Alaska was a blast, but when I encountered a singular hash brown for $3.99 dehydrating under a heat lamp at the gas station, I realized I was ready to come home to the Midwest and our beloved Kwik Tripsš„¹ Such a great trip with great people. Caught a bunch of salmon, ate a bunch of salmon (to avoid overpriced hash browns), brought home 50 pounds of salmon, and got a bunch of incredible video footage which Iām excited to share with you guys once I have a chance to edit it all! Even caught a big snag of flies and sinkers which restocked the tackle box, so I guess that means Iāll have to go back sometime and put them to useā¦ Lots of content in the works. A perfect seat to watch the sunrise on opening day here in Wisconsin, although it would have been more enjoyable if I remembered my thermacellā¦š š¦ I truly have no desire to shoot and deal with a deer in this warm weather, but for me bow hunting opening morning is about way more than the āhuntingā. Itās about letting life slow down, being immersed in nature, and watching the woods come alive from a tree. Leaves are starting to change color, and itās easy to visualize this same sit on a brisk 30 degree morning in late Octoberā¦ To my fellow deer hunters out there Iām sure you can relate. Everybody meet Charmander. When Mushu passed away last August I didnāt have any intent on getting another bearded dragon despite my students begging me to do so as a new classroom pet. Last month however, Rachel and I were asked if we would be willing to adopt this guy because his previous owner just didnāt have the time to care for him, and are so happy we said yes! He is roughly two years old and was never even given a name, so I let my summer school students vote on what to call him and Charmander (āCharmyā for short compliments of Rachel Baumgart) was the winner! As you can see he didnāt take long to embrace his new adventurous lifestyle, and he is great with the students. I still accidentally call him Mushu on occasion, but thatās just a reflection of how awesome young Charmy is.
