Earlier today we received an update on Poppy Seed. She had a particularly rough night after her blood sugar dropped. The same ER veterinarian that treated, fostered, and eventually adopted Sugar Snap was there to guide Poppy through, so we knew she was in the best of hands. 💙

After receiving a tube for fluid and nutrition, Poppy slowly started perking up. The latest update shows she’s standing, walking small steps, and seeking both food and affection!

We promised to update you on Melvin, and while he remains in very serious condition, we need you to know what the last hours have looked like for this tiny boy.

Melvin received an emergency blood transfusion shortly after arriving at the critical care hospital. Without it, he would not have survived.

Currently, Melvin is unable to maintain his blood glucose levels on his own and is receiving a continuous dextrose infusion to keep his levels stable. His body is incredibly weak and severely emaciated, the result of prolonged suffering that no puppy should ever endure.

But we do have one piece of good news that brought us all to tears: Melvin is now able to stand up on his own.
It may seem small, but for a puppy who was found collapsed, lateral, and unable to move, this is a meaningful sign of fight.

His liver values are abnormal, which is not unexpected given the extent of his condition. The medical team is cautiously hopeful that, with aggressive supportive care, these values may begin to normalize but he is not out of the woods yet.

Melvin is fighting with everything he has. And now, he needs us to fight just as hard for him.

🐾 *Hey friends, it’s me, Mako again* 🐾 I’m sittin’ here with a heavy heart, sniffin’ the sorrow ‘cause we didn’t raise enough cash for our weekly goal and my vet bills are stackin’ up like a mountain of woof‑woof worries. 💔

I’m a pup with a spark in my amber eyes and a _deformed muzzle_ that makes my snout look a little wonky, rockin’ my denim vest and my funky pink‑black leg warmers, dreamin’ of belly rubs and sunny adventures. But the dough we need to keep my tail waggin’ and my health strong just ain’t showin’ up. Every missed dollar feels like a cold paw on my chest, makin’ my question “Is I am Beautiful?” sound like a whisper of a dream that’s fadin’ away. 😔

The vet bills are piling higher than my favorite chew toy, and without the funds my future looks cloudy—no more photo shoots, no more goofy poses, just the ache of not gettin’ the care I need to stay happy and healthy, especially with my special muzzle needin’ extra attention. If we don’t raise the cash, I might have to skip my special food 🥘 and miss out on the comfy bed 🛋️ I love. 💊🐶
