A new episode of Girl, Get Up: UNLOCKED just dropped.
🎧Episode 8: The Mindscape of T.O. Lestat
What does it sound like when a man turns his trauma into testimony through art? In this episode of Girl, Get Up: UNLOCKED, "The Mindscape of T.O. Lestat," Ms. Cee Jones is joined by T.O. Lestat. An independent boom-bap artist, educator, and multidisciplinary visual storyteller whose music documents the raw, unfiltered reality of identity crises, mental health battles, spiritual conflict, homelessness, fatherhood pressures, and the daily fight for survival and resilience. Through his newest album "F@% Off Me: Unapologetic," a three-act documentary-style project, T.O. Lestat maps the psychological and emotional journey of a person desperately trying to shed accumulated trauma, societal judgment, and internal chaos long enough to remember who they actually are. T.O. Lestat shares his musical journey, the real-life experiences birthing his art, and his vision through The Armed & Educated ENT.
But this episode goes deeper. Ms. Cee and T.O. pivot to a polarizing cultural conversation: the Memphis shooting of a 20-year-old boy found under a 13-year-old girl's bed by Mother Kendra Scott. Was she right or wrong? This conversation doesn't offer easy answers. It offers honest examination of a mother's instinct, a community's judgment, and the complex intersection of parental protection and legal/moral accountability.

A new episode of Girl, Get Up: UNLOCKED just dropped.
What happens when a man refuses to let circumstances define his destiny? In "Change We Don't Expect," Ms. Cee Jones breaks down The Pursuit of Happiness, Will Smith's 2006 powerful portrayal of real-life businessman and motivational speaker Chris Gardner, a man who rose from homelessness, failed marriage, and crushing career obstacles to become a millionaire stockbroker with no college degree, no experience, and virtually no connections.
This isn't just a movie review; it's an examination of what true male resilience looks like and why fathers who show up matter profoundly to their children and communities.
This episode is an ode to the men of our communities who have earned their roles as fathers, grandfathers, mentors, and leaders. Men who didn't wait for perfect circumstances but created opportunity through grit, vision, and refusal to quit. Ms. Cee explores the real obstacles Gardner faced (failed marriage, rejections, discrimination, poverty, homelessness), the mindset shifts that enabled his breakthrough, and what his example teaches young men about possibility, resilience, and the impact a committed father has on his child's trajectory.

Salutations Girl, Get Up Collective...
Every woman deserves to know her worth and experience God's transformative power.
Not someday. Not when she's healed completely. Not when she's figured everything out.
But NOW! In the middle of her journey. With her cracks showing. With her story messy.
Because that's when transformation becomes real.

Salutations Girl, Get Up Collective...Broken Crayons Still Color...What Happened to You Doesn't Define Who You Become.
My latest Girl, Get Up Expert, Ashley P. faced something most people can't even imagine: losing her brother AND the father of her children on the same night!
Not a private grief. But public. Devastating. Inescapable.
For a single mother, it would have been understandable to stay broken.
But Ashley made a different choice. Here's the truth she discovered, and wants every woman to know:
It isn't about what happened to you. It's about who you become because of what happened.
🩵Your tragedy doesn't define your destiny.
🩵Your loss doesn't determine your worth.
🩵Your pain doesn't predict your future.
What DOES determine your future? Your choice about what you do with your pain.
Millions of women experience devastating loss. Some stay broken. Others, like Ashley, transform their grief into a healing movement that helps thousands.
The difference? Choice. Faith. Accountability. Surrender.
Hear how one woman transformed devastating loss into a mission to heal thousands through Ashley P. Enterprises.

Girl Get Up
Salutations Girl, Get Up Collective,
What if your "wrong turns" were actually perfect preparation for where you needed to go? My latest Girl, Get Up guest Ruhene Jaura's path wasn't linear. It was a masterclass in adaptation.
Born into an Air Force family in India that moved around frequently, she learned early that change is constant and adaptation is a skill.
She pursued Aeronautical Engineering. Then discovered her passion in Visual Effects at Marvel Studios. Then became a product launch consultant for Apple, Amazon, Motorola, and Microsoft.
Each "pivot" looked like a wrong turn. Until she realized each one taught her something essential:
🪷Engineering taught her systems thinking
🪷Visual effects taught her storytelling and visual communication
🪷Working with big brands taught her how billion-dollar strategies actually work
Every "detour" was preparation for her real work: Using that knowledge to help small businesses access billion-dollar marketing strategies through heyLevi and BrandPod.
Here’s the lesson from Ruhene’s brand story:
Your unconventional path ISN'T a disadvantage. It's your unique advantage.
The skills from your "wrong turns" are exactly what position you to see what others miss.
Stop apologizing for your non-linear journey growth (whether career or business) and understand that it's your superpower.
The lesson? Sometimes life often has other plans. Rather than resist, it’s up to you to make it transformative for others!
