HeartCry Missionary Society

HeartCry is a missionary society founded by Paul Washer. The mission's one great and overriding passion is that God's Name be Great among the Nations (Malachi 1:11) and that the Lamb receive the full reward for His suffering (Revelation 7:9-10). We find our greatest purpose and constant motivation for indigenous world missions in God, His commitment to His own glory, and our God-given desire to see His Christ worshiped in every nation, tribe, people, and language (Psalms 2:6-12).

“He said he believed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God…”

Pastor Andres Rodriguez serves in the town of Bagaces, Costa Rica. Last year, he and his church set out to put a Bible in every house in their town.

This endeavor was captured in HeartCry’s film “In Every House.” Recently, Andres shared an encouraging update from their ongoing ministry efforts in Bagaces.

He writes:

“A recent visitor to our church is a 17-year-old young man we met while distributing Bibles house to house. After knocking several times at one house and receiving no answer, we moved on to the next.

While we were preaching the gospel there, we saw that someone had arrived at the first house. We went back and knocked again. This time, a young man opened the door.

We asked if we could share a message with him about God and the Bible, and he agreed. We asked if he had ever heard the gospel before, and he said no. He had never attended any church.

As we shared with him, he listened intently. When we asked if he believed what he had heard, he said yes. He said he believed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that only through faith in Him can one be saved.

He acknowledged his sins and recognized his need for God’s mercy. He did not have a Bible, so we gave him one and invited him to church. The following Lord’s Day, he attended Sunday School and stayed for the worship service. Afterward, he said he wanted to keep coming.

We thank God that He has called us to proclaim the glorious gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory.”

"As a church, we watch with joy as the Lord continues to save and add to his church."

HeartCry missionary Christian Ulloa shares from Spain:

“With gratitude and joy in our hearts, we want to share what the Lord has done. It has been a special time in which we were able to experience the transforming power of the gospel in the lives of many young people.

We had the great joy of celebrating the baptisms of four people, a clear testimony of Christ's transforming work in their lives. To God be all the glory! As a church, we watch with joy as the Lord continues to save and add to his church.

These testimonies encourage us to remain firm in our faith, to pray, and to work together for the furtherance of His Kingdom. Please pray for discipleship and spiritual growth for these newly baptized.

Pray that the young people would be strengthened in the Word and grow in maturity and joy in the Lord.”

“Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread and be glorified, just as it was among you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1

Good news!
Thank you for praying for Jilmar!

His dad writes:
"I would like to inform you that, thank God, Jilmar has been moved out of intensive care and into intermediate care.
This means that his health is improving. Let us continue to pray to God on his behalf. Thank you."

HeartCry missionary Andre Lima, Portugal writes:

This past Sunday, our church celebrated the baptisms of three women and one young man, all of whom were eager to publicly profess their faith.

The older woman is the aunt of the two younger girls. The Lord used her testimony—along with social media—to bring her nieces to salvation.

Our original plan was to hold the baptisms at a public beach in the city, but a storm led us to prepare and use our old baptistry.

Thus, we gathered in the place where our church had met for more than ten years. As a result of this change, the young man was baptized in the same baptistry as his father.

Praise the Lord for His providence and saving grace!

Meet HeartCry missionary Reno Ulfo.

Reno is the pastor of Grace Alone Evangelical Christian Church in Sicily.

He was saved in March of 1985 after hearing his friend’s testimony. This friend explained the doctrine of justification by faith alone, through Christ alone, and by grace alone.

He recounts:
“In March of 1985, I believe the Lord saved my soul, and my life suddenly changed. I was strengthened by the power of God to live a life of obedience to His holy law, even though I knew that my justification was secured by the work of Christ and received by faith alone.
I was baptized on June 2, 1985, and joined the local church.”

Reno received his ministerial training through the Italian Bible Institute; he entered the ministry in 1992. Now, Reno’s primary ministry focus is pastoring the local church in Caltanissetta.

He also helps to plant new churches in Sicily, trains men for ministry, and helps translate and publish literature through Alfa and Omega Publishing. He began partnering with HeartCry in 2016. He and his wife, Giovanna, have been married since 1990.

A HeartCry missionary writes from an undisclosed location in Asia:

“We had the privilege of witnessing the baptisms of seven new believers.

Two of the brothers had been coming to church for many years, but their lives were not aligned with the gospel. Despite this, we were patient and repeatedly shared the gospel with them.

Finally, the Lord brought them to saving faith.”

Praise God for these new believers, and pray that they would grow in grace and truth as they trust in Christ for strength.

"We shared the gospel with hundreds of people..."

Sandu Deac is a seasoned HeartCry missionary in the Eastern European country of Moldova. He recently shared about three evangelistic campaigns in which several HeartCry missionaries participated. It is a long-standing practice among HeartCry missionaries in Europe to unite in evangelistic endeavors.

Sandu writes:

"This month, we held three evangelistic campaigns in the towns of Hârșova, Ciobanu, and several other nearby villages. We were blessed in each of these events. God granted grace, and we shared the gospel with hundreds of people.

Through these efforts, we have also built stronger relationships with the people in our regions of ministry, and many doors have opened for the gospel. We spent two days evangelizing on the streets of Hârșova and Ciobanu, alongside seven HeartCry co-workers.

As a result of these endeavors—especially the street conversations—several people began visiting our church. Many of them had never attended an evangelical church.

We have remained in touch with several families who have expressed interest in continuing to learn more about God and building a relationship with Him.

Just last week, I had an excellent discussion with one family. They also invited a relative to join us, and we talked for four hours about the gospel and the essential matters of faith in God. I was amazed to discover both families were already reading the Bible on their own; and naturally, they had many questions.

It is truly special to see how God draws people to Himself and prepares them to receive the gospel."

“What is happening there with the Baptists, that so many people are gathering?”

HeartCry missionary Andrei Cringanu in Romania shares a beautiful story of a conversion and baptism in the spiritually dry town of Jegălia.

He writes:

”In Jegălia, there had not been a conversion in over 25 years. Yet during this week, the Lord was glorified, and the testimony of new birth was once again heard.

Sister Lenuța, from Jegălia, at 72 years old, entered the waters of baptism—right in the baptistery of the church, which had not been used for many years. It was an extraordinary moment.

Over 40 locals and 50–60 children attended.

It was something that made everyone ask: ‘What is happening there with the Baptists, that so many people are gathering?’

On Sunday, 4 adults came to the church in Călărași to attend the service. From this point forward, it is important that we persevere and continue the work in Jegălia.⁩ The baptism has been a spark that ignited fresh spiritual interest in Jegălia.

People’s perception and attitude toward us have changed greatly. In the past, they rejected and insulted us, but now they have become very open—even inviting us into their homes.

I believe this is the moment to organize a concrete project of church planting and revitalization in Jegălia.”
