Meet the black-footed cat (Felis nigripes). Africa's smallest wild cat! Standing at just 14–20 inches tall, this tiny but mighty hunter is a nighttime specialist. By day, it rests in burrows, but after dark, it covers up to 10 miles in search of prey, feasting on everything from rodents to birds—even catching them mid-air with leaps up to 5 feet high! Despite its small size, it can take down animals much larger than itself, eating up to 14 meals in a single night. Between October and March, females usually raise two kittens, who become independent by four months old, this fierce little feline is full of surprises.
