Our original activities were primarily to encourage Jews
from all over the world to purchase private land in Israel and
to reinvigorate the old pre State of Israel pioneering spirit of the early
settlers by planting olive trees and producing high quality olive oil
with Jewish labor (Avoda Ivrit).
By following Jewish law (halacha) in working the land, purchasers also
benefit from observing several mitzvot (commandments):
-Purchasing land in Eretz Yisrael
-Orlah (refraining from fruit during first 3 years after planting)
-Shmitta (sabbatical year during which work on land is prohibited)
-Trumot / Maasrot / Leket / Shikcha / Peah (tithes to kohen, levi & poor)
Along the way, Buy a Piece of Israel received requests for other types of real estate investments. Today, we are still engaged in purchasing and agricultural lands but we also offer services in locating and negotiating for houses, etc.
