What if the secret to less stress isn’t doing less, but letting go more? 🕉️

The Bhagavad Gita shares a timeless teaching in Chapter 2, Verse 47:

“Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana”

“You have the right to perform your actions, but not to the fruits of those actions.”

This powerful yogic wisdom reminds us to focus on what we can control: our effort, mindset, discipline, and intention.

Much of our stress comes from attachment to results:
Will I succeed?
What if I fail?
What will others think?

The path of Karma Yoga teaches us to act with dedication, stay present, do our duty, and trust the process.

At Himalayan Yoga Association in Rishikesh, students explore the Bhagavad Gita, yogic philosophy, meditation, and traditional yoga teachings as part of their Yoga Teacher Training journey.

Ancient wisdom for modern life.
Traditional yoga teachings from Rishikesh.
A path toward inner peace and self-awareness.

Is yoga a religion?

This is one of the most common questions asked by yoga students around the world.

The traditional yogic perspective is clear: yoga is not a religion. It is a system of self-awareness, inner transformation, and conscious living that can be practiced by people of all cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs.

Through asana, pranayama, meditation, mindfulness, and self-study, yoga offers practical tools for improving physical health, mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall well-being.

The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit root Yuj, meaning “to unite” — bringing harmony between body, mind, breath, and consciousness. Rather than asking for belief, yoga encourages direct experience through consistent practice.

As Patanjali explains in the Yoga Sutras:

"Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind."

At Himalayan Yoga Association in Rishikesh, India, we share authentic yoga philosophy and traditional yogic teachings while welcoming students from all walks of life. Our goal is to help students understand yoga beyond the physical practice and explore its deeper wisdom through meditation, pranayama, philosophy, and self-discovery.

Yoga is not about what you believe.
It is about what you experience.

🕉️ Shiva: Adiyogi — The Origin of Yoga

According to the ancient yogic tradition, Shiva is revered as Adiyogi, the First Yogi, the one from whom the science of yoga was first transmitted. More than a historical or mythological figure, Adiyogi represents the possibility of human transformation through inner exploration, awareness, and conscious living.

For centuries, seekers have looked to Shiva as a symbol of meditation, self-mastery, and expanded consciousness. His teachings point beyond physical postures, guiding practitioners toward stillness of mind, clarity of perception, and a deeper understanding of the self.

Yoga was never intended to be merely a physical practice. Its purpose is to help individuals move from distraction to awareness, from limitation to possibility, and from identification with the mind to direct experience of their true nature.

At Himalayan Yoga Association and Bali Yoga School, students explore these deeper dimensions of yoga through Traditional Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation, Yoga Philosophy, and authentic yogic education rooted in ancient wisdom.

The journey of yoga begins within.

🕉️ Sangacchadhvam Samvadadhvam | Yoga Community Dinner in Rishikesh

"संगच्छध्वं संवदध्वं सं वो मनांसि जानताम्"
"Walk together, speak together, let your minds be in harmony."
— Rig Veda

In this video, students of Himalayan Yoga Association come together for a peaceful mountain-style dinner in Rishikesh, India.

In the yogic tradition, sharing food is more than a simple gathering. It is a practice of presence, gratitude, connection, and harmony. During this special evening, students from around the world shared food, conversations, laughter, silence, and meaningful moments together.

At Himalayan Yoga Association, we believe authentic yoga education goes beyond asana practice. Along with Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation, Yoga Philosophy, and traditional yogic practices, students also experience the importance of community, self-awareness, and mindful living.

This gathering reflects the true spirit of yoga: unity, respect, awareness, and shared humanity.

Science and Spirituality in Yoga | Message by Yogi Himanshu

Science explains the outer world. Spirituality helps us understand the inner world. Together, they create balance.

In yoga, science and spirituality are not separate paths. Science helps us understand the body, health, breath, nervous system, and physical wellbeing. Spirituality guides us toward self-awareness, inner peace, emotional balance, and deeper connection with the mind.

A heartfelt message from our leader, Yogi Himanshu, reminds us that true growth begins when we care for the body while also nurturing the mind and inner life.

Science is the journey of understanding what is visible and tangible. Spirituality is the journey of self-study, letting go of what is unnecessary, and rediscovering the calm, clarity, and peace already within us.

At Himalayan Yoga Association, we share yoga as a complete path of physical practice, meditation, pranayama, philosophy, mindfulness, and inner transformation.
