BIG announcement from YouTube today:

🩳 Shorts creators can now join the Partner Program (10M views in 90 days)
💰 New revenue share model for Shorts (45% goes to creators)
🎵 Creators will be able to monetize while still using "popular" music (+ buying licenses)

More info:

- Starting in early 2023, Shorts-focused creators can apply to YPP by meeting a threshold of 1,000 subscribers and 10M Shorts views over 90 days.
- There's also going to be a new level of YPP with lower requirements coming in 2023. Giving creators earlier access to Super Thanks, Super Chat, Super Stickers and Channel Memberships.
- From early 2023, ads will run between shorts and creators will keep 45% of the revenue. All creators shown will be rewarded (not just those directly before/after the ad). It doesn't matter if the creator uses music or not.
- YouTube is also launching "Creator Music", a service where creators can find (and license) music for their long-form videos. And for creators who don’t want to buy a license up front, they’ll be able to use songs and share revenue with the track’s artists and rights holders.
