The Court’s Adult Adoption Program was recently featured in this 12 News coverage highlighting how adult adoption can formally recognize longstanding parent-child relationships.
Adult adoptions take place each week across Maricopa County’s eight Probate divisions and may involve stepparents, relatives, foster parents, or other eligible caregivers who played a significant role in an adult’s life. Arizona has recognized adult adoption for more than a century, with 207 adult adoptions completed during the fiscal year 2025-2026.
