The journey of life is filled with mountaintops and valleys. Moments of joy and seasons of tears. Sometimes we mistakenly believe that following Christ means hardships are abnormal, and when suffering comes, it can get to the point where we wonder if something is wrong with us or even with God. “If God is good, then why did x, y, z happen to me?” Pause. Breathe. Take the thought captive.
God never promised an easy road. He never sugarcoated the reality of living in a fallen world. In fact, when the Word became flesh, Jesus stepped into the brokenness of the world and experienced suffering, rejection, grief, temptation, loss and pain firsthand.
God did not promise that we would never face trials. He promised that we would never face them alone. He promised He would walk with us.
When the weight of life's struggles feels overwhelming, place your heart on His promises instead of your problems. The challenge before you may be great, but it is never greater than the God who walks beside you. Know that one day, this too shall pass. He is faithful in every season, present in every trial, and strong enough to carry you through. Surrender your own strength and lean on His. You are not alone. Hold fast to His promises. Trust His process and plans and remember that He is there with you through it all.
