Normal stress: σ = P/A,
where σ is stress (N/mm²), P is load (N), and A is area (mm²).

Strain: ε = δL/L,
where ε is strain, δL is change in length (mm), and L is original length (mm).

Young's modulus (modulus of elasticity):
E = σ/ε, linking stress and strain elastically.

Volumetric strain: e_v = δV/V = ε_lin (1 - 2ν), where ν is Poisson's ratio.

Poisson's ratio: ν = -ε_lateral / ε_axial.
