First time solo camping in Mindanao.
After reading a lot of comments and messages, I want to say one thing:

Spreading fear about Mindanao doesn’t help anyone.

Yes — things can happen here. Just like they can in Manila. Or in the USA. Or in Europe. No place in the world is risk-free.

But calling Mindanao dangerous as a whole is simply misleading.

Mindanao is incredibly beautiful, full of kind, welcoming people, and absolutely worth visiting. If you respect local culture, listen to locals, and move with awareness — it’s no more dangerous than many places people consider “normal” or “safe” without thinking twice.

Fear often comes from headlines, not from real experience.
Mine so far? Hospitality, generosity, and landscapes that deserve to be seen ❤️
