I decided to make a lot of my unlisted videos or unfinished videos public. A good chunk of them come from my first ever job as an Animator, which was on a Facebook game called Journey of Moses and Journey of Jesus: The Calling (it was a job haha) but I've also uploaded just some shorts I started and never finished as well, on top of some live action stuff. Enjoy!
So it’s been about ten years since I last worked on Scaredy Dave, and I feel like I should probably explain what happened with that channel, and I feel bad for not really doing this earlier. I noticed a lot of Scaredy Dave fans on my latest Puppetcombo montage video I posted so I was like “I should really tell everyone what happened!”
So basically, it was something I did for fun, but it started becoming not fun. I was doing everything 100% on my own, and that meant I had a lot of technical hiccups that would cause frustrations down the line, or I wouldn’t know how to record something, or my stream was set up wrong and so on. There’s a few games I’ve recorded that I just didn’t have VO for and all this just sort of added up over time.
That and the gaming landscape was in a bit of a weird spot 10 years ago. We had that Gamergate thing happening and that just added a weird extra stress on everything. I didn’t like some of the comments I would see on stream that were like bashing women and it just sort of made streaming not fun. It again didn’t help that I didn’t have like a team or moderator to help filter these sort of things.
So then why did I fully delete the channel? In all honesty, no real nefarious reason, I was trying to find a new job and I was paranoid that the channel was effecting my chances. I thought some recruiter would see the channel and be like “pass” because they didn’t want a Youtuber. I was still very young in my career at that time so I needed to be as hirable as possible.
So what have I been doing in the meantime then? I got married, had 3 jobs since then, bought a house and we just had a baby girl about a month ago! Let’s see, when I was doing Scaredy Dave I was working at Lightside and then got laid off and worked at IGT. I worked at IGT for 4 years, left to work for Big Fish Games and I worked that for 5 years. I now work at a place called Scopely games on the game Monopoly Go, which has been really fun! I’m a 3D Animator now, but that’s a recent development as of like last year, was a 2D Animator at the others. I also, as you may have seen, Freelance for Puppetcombo Games as an Animator. I mostly do Death Animations for their games but I also do other animations, Stay Out of the House I did a whole bunch of stuff.
But yeah, figured you all deserved an explanation. I was just young and stressed and thought no one would truly care if it went away, but seeing comments mentioning it 10 years later made me realize I was missed, and I’m sorry it took me the better part of a decade to explain that.
Thanks for sticking around, and see ya later Spooksters!
