🎬 A quick change to the series: I've decided to use script pages instead of storyboards.

While storyboards are a valuable tool, I realized they can shape how a scene is imagined before viewers see the finished footage. By sharing the script instead, readers can create their own vision of the characters, setting, and action before comparing it to what ultimately appeared on screen.

The goal remains the same: to explore the journey from script to screen and share some of the notes, revisions, and production decisions made along the way.

🇨🇩 The journey continues.

🇨🇩 L'aventure continue.

A look back at a graphic novel I wrote and published in 2013, illustrated by Howard Simpson.

These pages were created over a decade ago, yet the themes of fear, anger, hope, and the choices we make in response to suffering still resonate with me today.

I'm looking forward to filming this.

What do you think the message of these pages is?

Series title: The Silence Before
Episode 1 title: Dead Air

Some time ago, we started a short story together—but during our first live stream, I went deep into another idea and never made it back to this one. The original premise was simple: a person wakes up on an empty island with no memory of how they got there. Beside them in the sand is a weapon, a name they don’t recognize, and a message that says, “Someone is coming for you.”

We put it to a vote, and here are the results…

Image 1) Here are the weapon choices from the poll:

🟣 A dark energy dagger that warms in their hand — 21.4%
🔵 A silver laser gun with a name etched on the side — 57.1%
🟢 A glowing double-blade staff that hums softly — 10.7%
🟡 A curved plasma sword with cracked edges — 10.7%

Image 2) And here are the name choices for the character:

🟣 Kaelen — 28.6%
🔵 Mira — 25%
🟢 Jaxo — 10.7%
🟡 Serin — 35.7%

🎬 “The Crow” (1994) — Why It Still Hits Me Every Time

The Crow has always been one of my top five films — honestly, maybe even top three.
It’s a story about love, loss, revenge, memory, and protecting the ones who meant everything to you. It’s a movie that always gets me.

I’m not talking about the remake from last year.
I mean the 1994 OG Brandon Lee classic.

Brandon had signed on for three films. To watch his rise — coming up through martial arts, landing this role, and pouring everything into it — you can feel all of that energy and heart on the screen. And knowing what happened behind the scenes only adds to the emotional weight.

The story comes from James O’Barr, who wrote The Crow while coping with the loss of his girlfriend, who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run by a drunk driver. The original book was black and white. I remember seeing it on the convention circuit back in the day, long before I appreciated how powerful it really was.

But this movie stayed with me. Especially the ending.
If you’ve seen it, you know exactly what I mean — the final moments between Eric and Shelley hit every time.

A lot of people misunderstand The Crow.
They focus on the look, the makeup, the action, the violence.
But they forget the human connection — the love between Eric and Shelley, and the bond with the young girl who was basically family to them.

That’s the core of the film.
That’s why the Crow brings him back.
Because some love is so deep that even death can’t silence it.

Ernie Hudson is in there doing what he does best — I swear that man doesn’t age — and every reboot since has tried to copy the style, the fights, the darkness… but they miss the soul.

I just dig this movie. Always have.

What about you? What did The Crow (1994) mean to you? What stayed with you?
