We've published a comprehensive evaluation of the Feetech STS3250 servo actuator.
Key Findings:
- Speed: 77.6 RPM (exceeds spec by 3.2%)
- Backlash: 0.43° (within 0.5° limit)
- Repeatability: ±0.02mm at 95mm radius
- Peak torque: 48 kg·cm
- Sustained torque: ~25 kg·cm after thermal protection

Proud to share the results of our engineering team’s recent work at Robonine:

• Together, we applied advanced topology optimization to redesign critical brackets of the manipulator, achieving a 57–76% reduction in structural deflection.

• Our updated model also demonstrated a major stress decrease — from 93 MPa down to 25 MPa — all while staying within the allowed weight increase.

• Although we didn’t fully reach the target tip deviation of 0.3 mm (best achieved: 0.41 mm), the project gave us valuable insights and a solid foundation for the next design iteration.

Our engineering team has updated the connection design.
We increased the folding angles of the joints to 270 degrees.
The manipulator can now fold completely.

Back in August, the production cost of our prototype manipulator was estimated at ~$1600 per unit (without assembly), or ~$1000 in a 100-unit batch. Our current goal: cut prototype part costs below $800, and small-series production to around $600.

- To achieve this, we simplified the design significantly:
- Reduced degrees of freedom by one (removed forearm rotation)
- Cut required part volume by ~5×
- Lowered payload capacity from 3 kg to 1.1 kg
