Hey everyone, I just read something that completely stopped me in my tracks and I had to share it with you all. I was scrolling through an article about pet health, and my jaw literally dropped. I had no idea, but our beloved cats and dogs can actually develop dementia, just like humans. This was a complete shock to me. I look at our sweet, mischievous Lana and our goofy, loyal Boosya, and the thought of their brilliant little minds ever being clouded by something like that had never even crossed my mind. It’s both heartbreaking and a crucial piece of knowledge that I think every pet parent needs.
The article listed signs to watch for, like confusion, changes in sleep, becoming more "clingy" or more withdrawn, and even loud meowing at night. Reading through them, I found myself looking over at Lana, napping in a sunbeam, and Boosya, chasing her tail, with a whole new sense of protectiveness. It’s a reminder to cherish every single purr, every head tilt, and every wagging tail even more than we already do. Our pets give us their whole hearts, and it’s our job to be their advocates. I’m definitely going to be watching both of them with a more informed and loving eye, and I’ll be talking to our vet during their next check-up.

Lana and Boosya came to the village for the holidays. Lana (a cat found last year in a garbage dump) became incredibly timid. She did not leave the house for a day and only by the end of the second day she dared to go out onto the porch to sniff the clematis and by night she went down to the grass. But the expression on her face was very eloquent at that moment :))
