Increase Jesus

The word of God is a powerful spiritual weapon, use it to clear the way for your breakthrough in Jesus' name.

The enemy often distracts us to make us too busy to read our bibles.
Read the word of God, be empowered and ready for battle.

I see walls crumbling in the spirit as you use the word of God and call on the name of Jesus!

DO YOU NEED TO GO TO BIBLE SCHOOL TO BECOME A PASTOR?

I believe that anyone who desires to become a pastor needs to be properly equipped, trained and grounded in the Word of God. However, that does not necessarily mean they must enrol in a formal Bible school.

What is essential is that the person studies the Word of God, understands it, lives by it and is able to teach it accurately.

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) says:

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

The Holy Spirit, together with Bible study tools, online resources, teachings and books written by sound Christian authors, can help equip a person for ministry. Attending a Bible-believing church, learning from mature Christians, prayer, personal experiences and practical involvement in ministry are also valuable.

Bible schools are good, provided they teach the true Word of God. But you do not necessarily have to enrol in one to become equipped for ministry.

And now, we even have Artificial Intelligence (AI)!

Interestingly, someone could use AI to help develop an entire Bible school curriculum, from beginner to intermediate and advanced levels, complete with Bible references, study materials, assessments and suggested answers.

However, please understand that not everything AI produces is accurate. Neither is everything a pastor or Bible teacher says necessarily correct, even when they genuinely believe what they are teaching.

AI can be a useful learning tool, but it should never replace the Bible, the Holy Spirit, sound teaching or spiritual accountability.

This is why we need the guidance of the Holy Spirit, who helps us discern truth from error. But we must also examine everything against the written Word of God.

1 John 4:1 reminds us to test the spirits,
"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world"

Acts 17:11 commends the Bereans for searching the Scriptures daily to verify what they were being taught.
"Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."

Now, there are also tremendous benefits to attending a good, Bible-believing Christian Bible school.

You receive human mentorship and guidance. You learn from people with genuine ministry and life experiences. You fellowship with other believers, meet new people, pray together, encourage one another and build relationships.

You also have opportunities to develop discipline, accountability, spiritual maturity, leadership skills and godly character.

All these can help prepare and equip you to become a good pastor while strengthening the body of Christ.

Remember, pastoral ministry is not just about standing behind a pulpit and preaching. It involves shepherding God's people, teaching, caring for souls, demonstrating godly character and leading by example.

1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:7–9 remind us that character, sound doctrine and spiritual maturity are essential qualifications for spiritual leadership.

However, there is another side to this discussion.

If you attend the wrong Bible school, you may come out indoctrinated, spiritually manipulated or trained to become a tool in the hands of men rather than a faithful servant of God.

Instead of being equipped to follow Christ and shepherd His people, you may simply be trained to promote the doctrines, interests and agendas of an organisation or individual.

That is why discernment is so important.

My conclusion is this: Bible school is beneficial, but not necessarily compulsory. Being genuinely called, spiritually mature, grounded in Scripture, teachable, accountable and equipped for ministry is essential.

A certificate does not automatically make someone a good pastor, and the absence of one does not automatically disqualify someone whom God has genuinely called and equipped.

My prayer is that God will direct His people to the right places, connect them with the right teachers and mentors, and protect them from deception and manipulation. May those called into ministry become true servants of Jesus Christ, faithfully teaching His Word and caring for His sheep. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

What do you think? Should formal Bible school training be compulsory for pastors?

Have you ever walked away from God, thinking life would be better your own way?

The story of the prodigal son reminds us of something beautiful: you may walk away from the Father, but the Father never stops loving you. ❤️

No matter how far you’ve wandered, the door is still open. The Father is waiting with forgiveness, love and open arms.

You can always come home. Choose Him today. 🙏🏽

Great exploits are done on your knees before they are accomplished with your hands.

📖 John 15:5 reminds us that apart from Jesus you and I can do nothing.

"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." John 15:5

Reflection:
Our strength is not enough.

Every lasting work for God's Kingdom begins with abiding in Christ. Prayer aligns our hearts with His power and His purpose.

So, I encourage you and myself to pray more and may God do great exploits in our lives in Jesus' name.
