I just had a realization. The last Challenge of Exile in God of War 3 involves fighting Fear Kratos. The developers would not create a unique enemy and AI for a challenge, so this is probably cut content. We can assume that originally the plan was for Kratos to defeat Fear by literally fighting it, as opposed to the final game where he beats it metaphorically inside his mind with the help of Pandora. We know from various developers that the Fear Kratos psyque sequence in the final game was a very late addition, so it was likely added after the Fear Kratos fight got cut.
This perfectly explains OST track "In the Face of Fear". It's positioned in the album as the penultimate track, before only the final cutscene song. In the final game, it is practically an unused song, with only parts of it playing during a few cutscenes. I assume it was probably meant to play during the Fear Kratos fight, hence the name. We know that the official soundtrack release was created months before release and contains many nods to cut content, most notably Brothers of Blood being positioned and named as if it would play during Hercules.
The God of War 3 re-uploads are now complete! There are still two songs that play in the game that are missing (beginning of the Hercules fight, two chimeras at the Gates of Tisiphone), which are songs from GoW2 that I will upload later together with the other GoW2 songs.
The channel GameMusicVez, which had uploaded a great number of God of War and other games soundtrack, has for some reason shut down. My playlists included many of their videos and therefore are now incomplete. I will start reuploading the tracks myself in the next days.
