Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition that causes pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility in the shoulder joint, often developing gradually and potentially lasting for months or years before resolving

Causes and Risk Factors
Frozen shoulder occurs when the connective tissue in the shoulder joint capsule becomes inflamed, thickens, and contracts, restricting movement[medlineplus +1]. The underlying cause is often unknown, but risk factors include:

Immobilization from injury or surgery

Age (typically 40 to 60)

Female gender

Diabetes and thyroid disorders

Hormonal changes, such as menopause

Rotator cuff injuries or disorders

Symptoms

The main symptoms are shoulder pain (often worse at night) and stiffness, which makes it hard to move the joint in all directions Daily tasks like lifting, reaching, or performing overhead activities can become difficult
Frozen shoulder progresses through three stages:

Diagnosis
A healthcare provider evaluates shoulder movement and pain, often diagnosing frozen shoulder clinically. Imaging like X-rays or MRI may be used to rule out other causes but is not typically needed

Treatment Approaches
Treatment generally focuses on

Pain relief (paracetamol or NSAIDs, sometimes with steroid injections)

Gentle range-of-motion and stretching exercises to restore movement

Physical therapy to improve flexibility and strength, usually lasting at least 6 weeks

In rare cases, surgical intervention (arthroscopic surgery) may be required to release the tight capsule

Most people eventually recover, though the process can be lengthy, often ranging from 1-3 years

Who Gets Frozen Shoulder?
Frozen shoulder is most common in individuals aged 40 to 60, especially women, and those with certain medical conditions like diabetes or thyroid issues

If shoulder pain and stiffness persist, it’s important to seek medical advice for proper diagnosis and management #physio

Sciatica pain for lower back pain relief exercises
A common, painful condition affecting the lower part of the spine involving the muscles, nerves, or bones of the back.
Low back pain is caused by injury to a muscle (strain) or ligament (sprain). Common causes include improper lifting, poor posture, lack of regular exercise, a fracture, a ruptured disc or arthritis.

Often, the only symptom is pain in the lower back.

Most low back pain goes away on its own in two to four weeks. Physiotherapy and pain relievers can help. A few cases may require surgery.
