CAD T&Ts

As I told in my last video that I am working on a Personal Project.
I had an idea of creating a Free web app about sketching, using a basic geometry. Along my project, I ended up with something quite similar to AutoCAD. So I let this project as it is.

One of my goal is to know the limitation of using JAVASCRIPT to create Such an App. As for now, I can still stick with that idea. However, with the current state, Exporting into dxf and dwg is quite impossible with Javascript only because I need an external librairies from Autodesk (I guess).

I have been working on this App for almost 2 months now. I did not do it alone. I use Gemini to help me for almost many things.

One of the most challenging part is on Constraint Solver, mainly combining the Dimension Constraint and Geometry constraint as a multi-constraint. Advanced Maths knowledge is needed. My current logic in is gradual approach, that is not work as I need. I tried the Newton-Raphson Method, but it's quite challenging and did not work as I excpected too. As a lightweight CAD App, it's functionnable and of course limited.

Features:
- Template Choice with Unit option (metrics and inch)
- Basic Geometry with arrow head for lines and arc
- Smart Dimension. Some dimensions need to be smarter and robust
- Text tool for anotation
- Table (for BoM, Block Title)
- Constraints (multi-constraint solver is still weak)
- Mirror and Patterns
- Modifiers (Trim, offset, fillet and chamfer) need improvment
- Borders with zoning
- Export (jpeg, png, svg and pdf)

I hope I will finish before the end of this Year, and able to deploy it.

I take this test today. And I got the Certificate. It took less than 180min for the test. And I spent most of that time in getting familiar with the Process of the Exam. And I made a mistake at the beginning.

One thing I can assure you if you want to do the test is that it is possible to get the 100% of score for the test.
Just visit the Onshape learning study learn.onshape.com/learn/ , follow the learning path to get Associate Certificate, and you are good to go.

You can get prepared and learn for a day. And you can do the test the day after. If you get familiar with Onshape, have knowledge about CAD, you can directly test yourself.

I have worked on this Design for some weeks now. I have practiced surfacing on this Car body design. I have discovered the use of advanced curve also in Onshape. We will talk about curve manipulation soon.

Unfortunately, I could not record all the process of it. And it's still a work in progress (WIP). But I will release some of the video I could record as a timelpase.
