However, the position of Hinduism in the region has faced many changes in the past decades, it has been subject to various conflicts, political changes and demographic shifts which led to a decline in the Hindu population and the destruction of many temples and other religious institutions.
The region has also been the subject of conflict between India and Pakistan since the partition of British India in 1947, and the situation in the region remains tense to this day. With the political situation still unresolved and the population of Hindu in kashmir being a minority, the practice of Hinduism in the region has faced many challenges.
Despite these challenges, Hinduism continues to play an important role in the culture and spiritual life of the people of Kashmir, with many Hindus in the region continuing to practice their faith and pass on its traditions to future generations.
