BREAKING: The Fisheries Minister granted Marineland conditional approval to export whales & dolphins to the US—after the park threatened to execute the animals. Act now to ensure they won’t be bred in the US 👉 bit.ly/3NEhJP3
BREAKING: Marineland has applied to export all of its surviving whales & dolphins to SeaWorld & other US aquariums—while threatening to kill the animals if it doesn’t get its way.
Export permits can only be issued if they are in the best interests of the animals. If the government allows the export, it must include strong “no breeding” conditions on the permits so this generation is the last one to suffer in tiny tanks. Take action 🐳➡️ bit.ly/3LyLUGR
⚠️ SHOCKING: The operator of Bervie Zoo, John Geddes, has pleaded guilty to 3 counts of shocking animal cruelty—yet received no jail time, no fines, no criminal record, & no ban on owning animals.
Geddes originally faced over 21 counts of animal abuse in 2022 after Animal Welfare Services uncovered horrific conditions in a section of the zoo he initially refused access to. Inspectors found animals without adequate drinking water or ventilation, trapped in dimly lit, filthy cages, breathing air thick with ammonia & feces.
This outcome, especially in such a severe case of animal cruelty, exposes just how dangerously weak Ontario's zoo laws are. This is a failure of our legal system, & reform is urgent.
