Today May 31st, 2025, is the 12 year anniversary of the tragic El Reno tornado of 2013. This is the first tornado I ever learned about so I’m going to share a summary of the story as the a video will be out soon about it. El Reno was a monster of a tornado. It was unpredictable and nobody was safe. Even the safest storm chaser ever, Tim Samaras, was killed in this tornado along with his son Paul Samaras and his colleague Carl Young. This tornado broke several records in a matter of minutes, including its windfield expanding from one mile to two in under a minute. The main thing it is known for is its width which was 2.6 miles wide and is the terrifying record. If the tornado had hit I-40 the death toll could have been in the hundreds but thankfully it dissipated before it got the most packed part of the interstate. Sadly, this tornado caused eight deaths including Tim Samaras, Paul Samaras, Carl Young, Richard Henderson, two more people trying to escape the storm, and a mother and her 17 day old baby. Even though I’ve read about this tornado many times I can’t imagine being there that day and I don’t think anyone who reads about can too. Even though I’ve heard many facts about it when I find new ones and look at the photos it still is horrifying even when you have looked at them before. Rest in peace to all who lost their lives that day🕊️

Today, May 22, 2025, is the 14 year anniversary of the tragic Joplin EF5. It had estimated wind speeds of between 225-250 mph. Sadly, this EF-5 resulted in 158 fatalities and more than 1,000 injuries. In the last two images it shows a neighborhood before the tornado and after and it is shocking to imagine how many houses and family homes were destroyed. Rest in peace to all who lost their lives that day🕊️
