We had an inspiring session today at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with our Founder, Prof. Dr. Jasser Auda. The topic, "Maqasid Al-Quran: Reviving Divine Purpose in Modern Life," opened up profound discussions on how we can align our daily lives with the higher objectives of the Quran.



It was wonderful to see such an engaged audience at the Main Auditorium, KOE. A huge thank you to the organizers for hosting this impactful gathering.

The idea that the constitutive parts give rise to the wholistic entity is very much embedded in the Quran. The whole is then characterized by these parts but more importantly by the connectivity or relationships among them and the higher objectives that are an integral and inseparable part of all creations - both animate and inanimate.
Studying the revelation in this way results in the emergence of webs of meaning that exhibit two universal laws showing us the consistency and interrelations among them.

هذه الندوة ضمن سلسلة لقاءات المنتدي البحثي الذي يقدمه معهد المقاصد بهدف تعريف الدارسين في الحقل القرأني بأطروحة الدكتور جوهر داود حول التلاحم اللغوي في القرآن الكريم على مستوى الوحدة البنائية الأساسية وهي "السورة" ، وبيان تفرّد كل سورة بخصائص لغوية على مستوى الكلمة المفردة وعلى مستوى التعابير المركبة مشكلة علامة للسورة تميّزها عن ما سواها.


د.جوهر محمد داود، باحث متخصص في الدراسات القرآنية. حصل على الدكتوراه في علوم الأديان، تخصص دراسات قرآنية، من جامعة أبردين بالمملكة المتحدة. وله كتاب "نَظْمُ القرآن" الذي كان في الأصل الأطروحة التي نال بها درجة الدكتوراه. وتدور الأطروحة على تقصي ظاهرة البناء المُحْكَم في بناء النص القرآني وسلامته من التحريف من لَدُنْ نزوله حتى اليوم.

يواجه الإسلام مشكلة كبيرة في فهمه وعرضه، ويعرض على الناس بنفس الفهم المشوه، والسبب هو القراءة الجزئية التبعيضية والتأويلات الفاسدة، وهذا بدوره عطل وظيفته وتم إبعاده عن ممارسة دوره ورسالته، لكن من فضل الله تعالى علينا أنه حفظ للأمة وحيها من التحريف والتبديل فهو الحاكم و المرجع والمهيمن والميزان الذي توزن فيه الأفكار والمعتقدات والآراء والمذاهب.)

The Maqasid Institute leadership, scholars, and members worldwide express their deepest condolences on the passing of Dr. M. Yaqub Mirza, Founder and President of the Center for Islam in the Contemporary World at Shenandoah University and the Sterling Management Group, among many other institutions. Dr. Mirza played a key role in bringing together the leadership of the Maqasid Institute and in establishing it. He firmly believed that the Maqasid Institute was essential for re-envisioning Islamic scholarship and putting Divine Revelation at the center of how we live and manage our affairs.

Dr. Mirza was a passionate scholar, visionary leader, global strategist, insightful author, Islamic finance pioneer, thoughtful mentor, and sincere servant of Islam. His dedication to advancing Islamic knowledge, research, education, and philanthropy, along with his pursuit of a better world for all, will remain an enduring inspiration to the countless lives he impacted.

We pray that Allah (SWT), in His infinite mercy and wisdom, showers the departed soul of Dr. Mirza with His divine forgiveness and accepts him into the highest stations of Paradise, Jannatul Firdaus.
