Idol Diary #38!

This episode grew on my from my first impressions. I don't really mind too much how, at first, Sunda's dancing was comical and literally impossible. I just accepted it as very Precure, and you can still make an emotional story with ridiculous aspects. His dancing was a bit repetitive, though, with a lot of emphasis on spinning, but his grandfather did inspire him. I liked the tale about connecting people across language barriers with dance, as art truly does connect people across the world. I'm literally writing about my favorite anime rn, so 💀 I'm glad that Kokoro filled the role of being the one to imprint on others, like how Uta and Nana did for her back in episode 7, I think it's a nice way to clue people in on how far she's come, since of course the series will be ending soon. I do appreciate how Sunda also needed to realize that in order to impress people, he needed to have fun. It's sososososo easy to get wrapped up in the mindset of trying to make something you love perfect and then growing to slowly despise it. Onto the villian stuff + the fight, Jogi and Chokkirine were funny, and the animation was REALLY GOOD? Like, bro, the scene of Chokkirine spinning must've been a demon to animate 😭 Cure Zukyoon also looked really cool while running. One thing that I'm starting to not like about fights this season, however, is how repetitive the Heart Garden feels and how many action scenes are just the cures spamming their sub attacks. It's worse for Kiss and ESPECIALLY Zukyoon because their attacks are longer. I'm starting to dread seeing Zukyoon Bazooka and I'm starting to not like the attack 💀 Anyway, the Dancing Star Precure were very cool, I love how vibrant they were, but it's funny how much they don't fit into the artstyle- Kinda hoping they get their own Otona-like series one day, but maybe not Otona since they're only High Schoolers. They didn't do much, but it was cool. Anyway, I do like Kokoro cheering Sunda on and making him realize how special his dancing was at the end, even though her came in second at the dance competition. I just realized how much I've typed. It makes it seem like I really liked this episode. It wasn't bad, but maybe something was missing a bit? Maybe the Cures felt odd, anyway, I look forward to the conclusion of character arcs, even though it feels like Wonderful Precure just ended.

Ralph, Sarah, and Isaiah are ome friends of Damien and Eric! More specifically, Ralph is Eric's roommate, Sarah is Damien's best friend from high school, and Isaiah is Sarah's boyfriend.

I've meant to introduce them for a while, and there's another character who is in their friend group, but I can't really bring myself to draw rn-

I also lowkey want to redesign Ralph to give him a more unique style, Damien could also use an upgrade in terms of hairstyles, as I intend for him to be mixed, but it doesn't come across in his design- like at all-

Sorry that I've been so inactive recently 😭 I've been bad at using my free time effectively, lol

I actually finished this art on Halloween, but as you can see, it's not very spooky... at all-

I did mean to have it done earlier since it's Lynn, Crystal, and Flare celebrating the end of summer. It was fun to work on! Especially the background, and I have my reference image on slide 3 for those wondering!

Idol Diary #37

Honestly, I liked this episode more than I thought I would. Was it the best thing the show has ever done? No. But I did enjoy Nana's continued storyline of always being there to help others, but I really hope that they center Nana more often. She's always there to help someone, but I want to see what **her** issues are. However, Nana being the one to help Uta tied in nicely to the beginning of the season, and it was a really nice connection to that plot point. ( I want to call it something other than a "connection" but I can't think of the word 💀) This episode still fell into the trap of Uta playing a really large role, but I see why, since she inspired courage in Nana. The costumes were nice, even if they were a little plain because the animation this episode was- something, but hey, it happens when you have to make 45-50 episodes of something weekly for a year- 😬 But the best costumes were ZAKKURI AND CUTTY. THEY WERE REALLY CUTE. Enough said.

I hope everyone enjoys their Halloween, and if you don't celebrate, have a good day anyway! (I have to go to a football game bc the people who decide when the games take place are evil 💀)

Idol Diary #36!

It's easily my favorite episode in a while. I'll start with some of the things I wasn't a huge fan of. First, I know they're middle schoolers, but the gang seems so keen on Uta having feelings for Kaito 😭 Quite ironic, considering that the Western fans of Precure (specifically younger ones) would bust a man's kneecaps for existing within 5 feet of a Precure 💀 Also, I hope that this plotline isn't a case of too little to late, since after episode 37, there's only one cour of 12 episodes remaining. Finally, I think that the show has been too Uta-centric as of late, she's been very prominent throughout the 30s, and while I adore her, of course, Precure has evolved to be a group show. I find it odd that the super form is only a recolor, I'm aware of the movie only form, but there had to be a better solution, right? It feels like everyone else is getting left behind :/

Onto the good, I love how Meroron pointed out how isolating being and idol likely is for Kaito, as it acknowledges how the idol industry is potentially and often detrimental to a person's relationships. It builds off of Meroron's developed empathy, and I hope that the show continues to explore the dark side of the idol industry with Kaito and Kazuma (it likely will). I also enjoyed Kaito's and Kazuma's backstory. It was quite cute and wholesome, but also tragic. I wonder how much the two shared, considering that multiple years later, Kaito still considers Kazuma his best friend. Losing him must have broken Kaito, and I'm interested in seeing how it plays out. The beach that Uta and Kaito often go to being the same beach where Kaito and Kazuma met was such a nice touch that really made the location feel even more significant. I am glad that Uta had so much support backing her, and the fight this week was awesome! I really like Ueno Ken's animation 🔥 It's always such an iconic moment when shield cures get support from the team. As for the new attack, it looks nice, but the backing track for Cure Idol's new cover sounds crammed, and like a little too much might be going on, lol- Last but not least, I'm glad that Kaito seems to have realized that Uta and Cure Idol are quite closely related...

Overall, great episode, and I look forward to seeing this plotline progress, I just hope that they can successfully tie up loose ends (Bless Nana with the miraculous 2-part character arc finale please 🙏)

Random doodle post! The release of Pokémon Legends Z-A has been exciting, though I don't think I'll get it for now, for reasons for that I'm not getting into, lol.

For the past few weeks, the music of Aikatsu and the Pretty Series has been taking over my brain, so I drew Akari from Aikatsu's 2nd generation, as well as Himari and Mitsuki from Himitsu no Aipri. Have I watched either? No. But I like them anyway, I'm still watching Pripara, which is still as chaotic and enthralling as ever. Season 2 has been an interesting experience, lol-

Idol Diary #35


Hi,, don't ask about last week, even though it was a kinda important episode/lh

Anyway, this week's episode was alright, but I did feel like using the opportunity to draw all of the Idol Cures again! It's hard to avoid drawing Uta, Purirun, and Cure Idol all of the time, so I want to try to draw the others more.

About the episode itself, I did like how it highlighted the actual staff of the show and how the girls took ideas for how the concert should be run. It really emphasized the "You" part of the show's title. But oh my gosh, the people in the Precure universe(s) are literally so stupid. They didn't even get that Purin had actually seen the Idol Precure perform and believed the "dream" excuse. Anyway, Tanaka is such a goat for being able to get the PACIFICO YOKOHAMA for an idol group that just started, that could not have been easy. Meanwhile, the actual team couldn't even come with a show title until the day before- I liked the cameos of Amii Ishii, Chihaya Yoshitake, and Akane Kumada, they all sing really well. Though, it's kinda insane that Cure Idol was just like, "Bro, these guys are our fans let's just get them on stage." Like, okay Ig...

Anyway, hopefully, episode 37 can be good even though Kaito is kinda useless, and it was a dumb choice to get an actual idol to voice a character 💀
