I've been posting content from my trip to Tunisia. While in Tunis, of course I had to stop in the Central Market (which was walking distance from my hotel). Of course it was wildly interesting and I saw familiar produce in their local form and a whole host of items I never saw before. #tastetheworld#Tunisia
For years, I have dreamed of doing dinners like these. And this is an announcement I am happy to share!
We are partnering up with Ottawa Farm Fresh (on the east side of the city). From their announcement:
"For years, we talked about creating a farm-to-table dining experience right here on the Farm.
The idea has come up over countless conversations, and we're thrilled to finally make it happen with our new Field to Fork Dinner Series in partnership with Brian's Table. Brian has been a familiar face at the Farm Store for years, regularly selecting Farm Fresh produce for his thoughtfully crafted pop-up dinners. As we watched him transform our seasonal harvests into memorable meals, the idea naturally took root: why not bring that experience directly to the Farm?
With five years of hosting and catering private dinners under his belt, Brian knows how to create an unforgettable meal. Together, we're bringing guests out to the Farm for two meals that celebrate great food, good company, and the incredible flavours that come from ingredients harvested at their peak.
Each menu will be inspired by what’s growing in our fields at that very moment, showcasing the freshest seasonal ingredients just steps from where they were grown. It’s a true celebration of the season and the connection between the land, the food, and the people who share it.
More than anything, these meals are about bringing people together. Guests will gather around a shared table, connect with fellow food lovers, and experience firsthand the journey from field to fork.
What to expect: A four-course meal inspired by the season, served right here on the Farm and hosted by Farmer Jo and Chef Brian.
Ticket details will be announced soon. Seating will be limited, so be sure to keep an eye out for more information."
One of the stops near the end of Cotopaxi day trip was to the Vunka Distillery. Vunka is a pet project of a prominent local family, and if ever you have gone through duty free shopping in Ecuador, you will encounter their products. What we did not expect was how delightful the tour, property and experience was. The setting is a lovely hacienda and the owners had lots of friendly dogs. Their vodka is triple distilled, very smooth and they are playing around with some local flavours. I would say their blackberry vodka would make a lovely Bramble cocktail. #tastetheworld
Hey folks: Here’s a few pics from my Nuema video. That menu was mesmerizing, so much so that we had to take notes! Check out the video for the full experience. #tastetheworld
This week I turned 62. There was a time in the 80s when the though of crossing 50 seemed so distant, but here I am and striving to be in the best health & shape in my life. The journey continues and it remains an exciting, sometimes challenging adventure.
I am taking a moment to reflect that I crossed a landmark recently - over 300 videos and reels. After 4 years at it, with Zain my editor at the stern, we continue to explore the focus of this channel. I know I don't have a clear niche at this time, nor do I have a fully well anointed Channel, but a few things are started to gel. And we will be making a few changes in the near future.
With my summer 2026 plans on hold for the time being, I am working on clearing out the backlog on my content. I have videos from Georgia, Jordan, Tunisia and Malta I need to do voice over on and I will be posting them throughout this year. I will wrap up the Asado Project soon, and then work on the previous trip that had me in Bogota, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. Today, I released a teaser from the Ecuador portion of the trip, so please check that out.
Thanks again for all who are following me on this journey, and lets see what Year 5 of this channel my my 63rd revolution around the sun has to bring.
I will be sharing my Petra video this coming weekend. That day started at 130 am - after I barely slept - to catch the flight in Bologna to Amman on Ryan Air. The trip was uneventful until we approached Israel. When flying over, we all had to take our seats. I may publish a short reel of some video I took flying over. With the Jordan Pass (look it up), immigration was a breeze. Outside I met my driver, Nabil, who took me all around the country during my weeklong stay. Here, we are leaving the airport for Petra. Whatever exhaustion I had from the lack of sleep quickly changed to excitement as I was about to see one of my the sites I dreamed of seeing one day. And that day was today. Stay tuned.
Hey folks: I am currently in the centre of Argentina filming an asado related project. I have been a bit delinquent in my postings. I moved from Calgary to Ottawa, had a long trip in South America, ended up cash strapped for a stretch, and witnessed a number of deaths among family and friends. Yup, it was stressful. In getting back on the posting horse, I am going to play catch up and post a few things out of my travel sequence. I am going to start with a short video I recorded last year in Valetta, Malta. Enjoy!
My Paella Valenciana Experience video is almost done and ready to post! It took me 2.5 years to edit this video. :-) I realized that I was out of my depth to do justice to the edit this required. But as I continue along in making videos, I am learning new ways of doing things and my confidence grows a little with each one I post. While this is younger & trifocal me, I felt I was ready to tackle it and tell the story I wanted to tell, a bit more of me moving the story along, with a tighter narrative with more intermittent narration. While it is far from perfect, growth is best a slow and steady process. Old dog doing new tricks. Stay tuned for the drop tomorrow. #tastetheworld BTW, My First Paella is still there in Valencia and it remains a fantastic course.
Hey folks! New video. While in India last year, I planned on seeing A LOT OF CRICKET. That did not happen. And it got me thinking about the state of Indian cricket off the field. While I will readily refer all to @JarrodKimberYT's regular and well researched takes of the India's cricket administration, I want to add to my experience as a foreigner/West Indian fan just trying to enjoy my favourite sport in the new Mecca of the game. #IPL2025#IndianCricket
Within the day (given 12 hrs time difference), I got a DM from my friend Asley Bristowe. She said that my post was interesting and reflective of their experience. Knowing Ashley and her husband Chris, I was aware of their time in India and their extensive travels. But I did not know they were planning on moving there.
Follow along and see what happened.
