Hey everyone I’m Red and this is Critical Reset, where I look to bring YOU the pretty good of in-depth video game reviews. Fresh, unbiased perspectives on both new and classic releases. Our main focus is older titles, with new games covered on a case-by-case basis.

I use a simple 0–5 scale based entirely on my general opinion:

0.0 Unplayable – Broken, crashes, or unplayable.

1.0 Very Poor – Major flaws, almost no fun.

1.5 Poor – Serious issues outweigh enjoyment.

2.0 Fair – Good ideas dragged down by problems.

2.5 Mediocre – Functional but forgettable.

3.0 Decent – Solid, but rough around the edges.

3.5 Good – Enjoyable with minor flaws.

4.0 Very Good – Polished and recommendable.

4.5 Excellent – Exceptional, in almost every respect only tiny flaws prevent perfection.

5.0 Outstanding – A masterpiece, memorable and near‑perfect!

Scores reflect design, execution, and impact - not algorithms.

"Update on Critical Reset"

Hey everyone, Red here.

I’ve been thinking about making this update for a while and wanted to explain where I’m at, why videos have been taking longer than usual, and what the future of the channel looks like.

For most of my life, I’ve dealt with major depression. I’m doing much better these days, but I still go through rough depressive episodes that can really slow me down. Over the last three months, those episodes have been happening more often.

On top of that, I’ve been struggling with something I didn’t expect. I’ve been losing some of my enjoyment for video games. It’s been hard to just pick something up and play for fun. The same goes for editing. Editing was never “easy,” but perfectionism started creeping in, and I was putting unnecessary pressure on myself with deadlines and expectations. The end result was videos that still didn’t feel like the quality I wanted.

I do feel bad about delays on reviews for keys I’ve accepted, but I’m incredibly grateful to the developers who trusted me and gave me a chance.

So here’s where things are headed. In the short term, I’ll be uploading Shorts for games where I have deadlines. At the same time, I’m taking a step back to reassess what I want Critical Reset to be and what kind of content I genuinely want to create going forward. I’ve got a ton of ideas and a lot of games I still want to experience. I just want to make sure I’m doing it the right way.

To everyone who’s stuck around, left comments, and shared feedback, thank you. It genuinely means more than you know and has helped me push through some tough moments.

I’ll see you soon.

Stay here with Critical Reset, where every game gets a second look.

Just dropped my review of Brew.
A fast-paced potion roguelite with big ideas, solid combat, and some systems that don’t quite cook all the way through. If you’re curious whether Brew is worth your time, check it out: https://youtu.be/up197eNOO2M

In other good news: I finally got a Steam Deck OLED (refurbished)!! I don’t think I’ve ever hit the buy button faster in my life, reviewed nothing and just prayed my card would go through. Can’t wait to share my experience with it!

Side note: I’m broke now (not kidding).. spare some change?

New Short is Live!

You Should Pick Up: Megabonk

Imagine Vampire Survivors but in 3D, with more explosions and way less restraint. You drop into a map, grab random upgrades, and before long you’re breaking the game in the most ridiculous ways possible.

It’s chaotic, loud, and pure fun, the kind of game that reminds you not everything needs to be balanced to be a blast.

The next episode of You Should Pick Up is live!

This time it’s Cocoon! A mind-bending indie puzzle adventure about carrying worlds within worlds. From the lead designer of Limbo and Inside.

Short, brilliant, and quietly emotional and worth your eye.

🎃Surprise Halloween drop 👻

Into the Pit might be the best FNAF game I’ve played since the original. It actually remembers what made the series scary! Atmosphere, tension, and simplicity, with the bonus of glorious pixel art!

Today is my birthday, I still find it unbelievable how far I’ve come. And how life has sent me for a ride I would’ve never had thought of nor ever forgot.

I’m so happy I’ve launched CR, spending time with family. We’ll play and continue to play, breath taking games.

Cheers!
