F.A.Q:

Why do you watermark gameplay?

We watermark our own personal gameplay so that when someone reuploads the video, it makes it easier for us to claim it as our footage.

Why don't you add commentary to your videos?

We feel that commentary ruins gameplay. There are many other channels doing commentary on their videos.

I saw a video with the exact same gameplay on their channel. What can I do?

Feel free to message us a link to the video and we will deal with it from there.

My question is not listed?

Feel free to message us, we usually respond to messages the same day. pr[at]gamersprey.com

South of Midnight Review

I was planning to make a video review, but with my schedule being all over the place, that’s not happening—so this will have to do. Without further ado…

South of Midnight is one of those games that’s going to stick with me for a long time. Right from the start, it gave me that same feeling I had playing Crash Bandicoot as a kid. The mix of boss fights, platforming, and collecting items to unlock new abilities kept me hooked the whole way through. There wasn’t a single moment where I felt bored. Story wise, it was very compelling to side with the main character Hazel with all the struggles that she encounters in South of Midnight. And for once, a very satisfying story end that some games nowadays can't achieve.

I know some people might not be into the animation style, but honestly, I didn’t even think about it after a while. If anything, it makes the game stand out. Each boss fight is different, which I really appreciated—no boring, repetitive mechanics. You actually have to figure out a new strategy each time instead of just doing the same thing over and over. Gameplay is fluid and I didn't experience any issues in my playtime. It is challenging to fall off the route you are taking but thankfully, you only take a smidge of damage and not a full game over. Just have to watch where your dashing ability will take you and you will be fine.

I played on Normal Difficulty, which felt just right. It was challenging but never frustrating. There’s also a Story Mode that skips all the boss fights, which is cool for people who just want to experience the world and narrative. I like that more games are giving players the choice to play how they want.

If I had one complaint, it’s that I wish the game was longer. I would’ve loved even more boss fights. My playthrough lasted around 10 hours, but a lot of that was me running around, exploring, and trying to find collectibles to level up my character.

Compulsion Games really nailed it with this one. If you like action-adventure games with platforming elements, you’re going to have a blast. South of Midnight drops on Game Pass on April 8th, but if you’re eager to jump in early, the Premium Edition is available now. If you’re on the fence, trust me—it’s worth checking out.
