Both Trent and I have the crud that’s been going around so we have to cancel tonight’s stream. Sorry. At the moment we are targeting next Friday, January 2nd, to reschedule. We will keep you informed as the week progresses. Enjoy the holiday weekend!
Hey all, just want to issue a correction on our last video. The suggested SRP from Jack Daniels' on the 2025 Tanyard Hill Rye is $79.99, not $64.99. My apologies.
Kyle posted this on his Facebook today. It is incredibly written and explains perfectly why we host our Riley’s charity drive every year. Please feel free to share.
“Today would have been my son Michael’s 14th birthday. In his honor, we are working to raise a total of $1 million for Riley Children's Foundation, the place that gave us 8 precious years with him.
Even $5 makes a difference. Please share our message and join us: 👉 slbcares.org/
Before Michael was even born, doctors told me and Briana Landers to prepare for the worst. His condition, Dandy-Walker Syndrome paired with extreme hydrocephalus, was so severe that they believed he would not survive birth.
But he did. Then he made it through his first week. Then his first month. Then his first year. Every step of the way, the odds were stacked against him, but Michael kept fighting. Again and again, he defied what was “impossible.” He survived.
In his 8 short years, Michael endured countless surgeries and procedures. He was never able to walk, talk, or eat on his own, but somehow, he still found ways to smile. And when I saw that smile, even in the middle of his pain, I knew that if he could smile, so could I. He was pure light in a situation that often felt unbearably dark. He was, and still is, my greatest inspiration.
I will always be grateful for every one of those 8 years. Losing him has left a hole in my heart that will never heal. But what gives me strength is knowing that his memory is still helping children and families who are walking the same difficult road we once did.
That is why we started our annual fundraiser for Riley’s Children’s Hospital. It is the place that gave Michael care, comfort, and dignity, and a place that gave us time with him we may not have otherwise had.
With the support of our SLB Basement Bourbon Bar community, we raised $18,000 in our first year in 2022. In 2023, we raised $203,937. In 2024, we raised $340,222. Riley’s honored Michael by naming a wagon after him, and now the Red Wagon Café wing of the hospital will carry his name as well.
In just three years, we have raised over $560,000. This year, in Michael’s honor, our goal is to reach $1 million in total raised.
We do this by selling 5 dollar raffle tickets for expensive bottles of bourbon and whiskey donated by the generous people of our community, and companies like Westward and J.T. Meleck. There are also prizes like a weekend at the lake and even a visit to our basement bar, where we film our videos. But even if you do not drink, your donation still matters more than you know. Every single dollar goes toward giving families and kids hope, just like Riley’s gave us.
I never asked for help during Michael’s life, but in his memory, I am asking now. Please, if you are able, give just 5 dollars to our cause. Share this message with your friends and family. Help us reach 1 million dollars, and help Michael’s story continue to change lives.
A massive thank you to all of our SLB community in helping us raise well over $300,000.00 for Riley’s Children Hospital!!
