The West Siang District Police have destroyed 128 modified silencers seized from two-wheelers during a six-month enforcement drive in and around Aalo as part of their campaign against illegal vehicle modifications and noise pollution.

The drive was conducted under the direction of SP Shri Kardak Riba, APPS, supervised by DySP (HQ) Shri Taba Biroy, and led by SI Gumdo Ete, OC Traffic Aalo, and Inspector Yomken Riram, OC PS Aalo.

The seized silencers were destroyed using a JCB after obtaining permission from the Deputy Commissioner, in the presence of Assistant Commissioner and Town Magistrate Shri Jumkar Karbi.

Addressing the media, SP Kardak Riba urged youngsters, particularly college students, not to use modified silencers, stating that they cause severe noise pollution and violate Sections 190 and 52 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

He said only the modified silencers of first-time offenders have been confiscated and destroyed. However, repeat offenders will face stricter action, including seizure of their vehicles, court proceedings, and possible imprisonment of up to six months.

The SP also cautioned parents against allowing minors below 18 years to ride two-wheelers, noting that such violations attract a โ‚น25,000 fine and legal liability for parents.

West Siang Police said strict enforcement against illegal vehicle modifications and traffic violations will continue to ensure a safer and noise-free environment in Aalo and adjoining areas.

The forum's first demand called for the scrapping of smart prepaid electricity meters, the abolition of the IT Division under the Department of Power, and the provision of 1,000 units of free electricity to every domestic consumer.

The second demand sought the early de-reservation and rationalization of forest boundaries in the Itanagar Capital Region, stating that the issue has affected land rights and development in the capital complex.

The UAPF also demanded the immediate constitution of a high-level independent inquiry into the alleged misuse of over โ‚น121 crore sanctioned for the construction of the Dariโ€“Chambang Road in Kra Daadi district, calling for transparency and accountability in the project.

Addressing the gathering, UAPF leaders urged the government to take immediate action on the issues raised and appealed for policies that safeguard the interests of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Arunachal Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (APMCC) staged a protest in Itanagar on Thursday against BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut over her alleged "gutterchhap" remark concerning students who participated in the NEET paper leak protest.

During the demonstration, the protesters burnt an effigy of Kangana Ranaut and demanded that she withdraw the alleged remark. They said the statement was inappropriate and disrespectful towards students exercising their democratic right to protest.

Addressing the gathering, Arunachal Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee President Chukhu Nachi said students and youths were only demanding their rights from the government and that using such language against them was condemnable.

APCC Working President and senior Congress leader Tanga Byaling and Vice President Toko Mina were also present at the protest and joined the demonstrators in expressing their support for the students.

The protest was organised in response to Ranaut's alleged remarks about supporters who had participated in the NEET paper leak protest held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

The NEET paper leak protest was organised over alleged irregularities in the examination process, following which former education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned.
