Tome of Tumiun Progress Update! — August

Hi everyone, I want to give you all a quick update about the Tome and the channel as well!

This past month has been very chaotic, yet very productive at the same time. After learning that my expectations for the quality of the Tome, the add-ons, and the premium features of the Collector's Edition are very hard to meet in Europe for a (somewhat) reasonable price, I requested quotes from many different printers around the world who could match what I have in mind for the look and feel of all items in the Kickstarter. I've received a lot of samples and had extensive conversations with printers across the globe, finally settling on a company called QinPrinting, located in Shanghai. They were extremely helpful in finding ways to get exactly what I need for the Tome and the add-ons.

They're one of the very few companies able to print every version of the Tome, including the Collector's Edition, plus the giant map posters, the bookmarks, and the laminated lore print sets, all together as one order, which really helps reduce shipping costs for all of us. They sent me a sample art book with a debossed black leather cover, gold foil, and gilded edges, and it looks so good that I simply cannot wait to have the Tome in all of our hands next year!

I'm also making good progress on the contents of the Tome itself, going through all of my old notes and ideas daily and turning them into cohesive bits of the Cartographer's writings. I'm aiming to write at least one page a day, while also writing and illustrating the new dragon video detailing the Stormwings of Ambarna, enjoying life with a little one-month-old, and doing some much-needed work around the family homestead. I find myself wishing for more hours in the day, every day, but I'm also the happiest I've ever been!

Unfortunately, the upcoming dragon video will have to be pushed back a few weeks, to September. I had my laptop die on me and am currently waiting for my new PC to arrive. Haven't been able to illustrate, record, or edit for the past week, with another whole week to go! I hope to have the upcoming Discord server ready before the next video drops, and I'm planning on having a soft launch with just the Kickstarter backers and channel supporters first to test things out and see if everything works, and then a few days later I'll share the invite with everyone else.

I'm really looking forward to sharing videos again, I'm itching to hit that upload button! I've got a lot of fun videos coming over the next few months, mostly shorter, lower-stakes ones first, just to get back into the rhythm. Later in the year you can expect the first of the Stretch Goal videos: the Cartographer's Avanima video, where he creates a brand new map and tells you everything you need to know about the history and lore of the land of the dragons.

Hey everyone!

I hope you're all doing great! Today's update will be a quick one, just to let you all know the Tome is still on track :)

For the past few weeks I've been taking a little bit of a break because I was blessed with the birth of a new world, an entirely new universe that came beautifully into being. She's healthy and perfect and we simply couldn't be happier. She is fast asleep on my chest as I type this quick update and we've already spent many of these little moments together writing up pieces of the Cartographer's wisdom to go into the Tome!

These past weeks and months have been filled with so much joy and gratitude, what a privilege it is to be able to spend my time doing what I love doing most. None of it would have been possible without all of you amazing people supporting what I do.

I've been having so much fun turning more than a decade of snippets and ideas into a cohesive, narrative text, and I need to stop myself from writing way too many short stories and endless pages of the Cartographer's recollections of his many travels, I can't fit all of it in there!

I've also been working on some new videos now that my freelance commissions are almost all finished up, and I really can't wait to get back to uploading in August! I've missed you all very much!

Oh and lastly, I'm working on setting up a Discord server where we can all chat and keep in touch, and share our worldbuilding ideas together. I'll keep you all updated and aim to have it launch when the next video goes live.

We did it! The Kickstarter for the Tome of Tumiun has reached its end!

I want to start by thanking all of you once again, I couldn't be more grateful to have such kind and amazing people help me make my dreams a reality. What a blessing you all are.

Today, the Kickstarter campaign for the Cartographer's Tome of Tumiun reached its end, collecting a whopping €52,000!!! We checked off three stretch goals, meaning the Tome will contain even more maps, illustrations and lore than before, while simultaneously funding lots more videos for the YouTube channel!

Late pledges are still active up until the point where I start the printing process, so any latecomers can still pre-order the Tome in that way!

So what now?

I've already started the logistical hurdle of laying out the Tome, figuring out what to include and in what order, and how to present it as an exciting narrative from the perspective of the Cartographer. The road ahead is a long process of collecting my ideas, turning snippets into stories, revisiting (and translating) old tales, poems, and songs, and turning it all into something that looks and feels worthy of your love and support.

As noted in the Kickstarter, I am aiming to have the Tome delivered to you at the end of 2027, but I will be keeping you updated along the way as much as possible, showing off the progress and letting you know where I'm at in the process of getting the Tome in your hands.

Sometime next year you can expect an email inviting you to join a Pledge Manager and fill out a survey to provide your shipping details, and also pay for shipping, fulfillment and any applicable taxes. Through the Pledge Manager you'll also be able to change your rewards, or add any extra add-ons you might want to include. I'll make sure to post an update here and on Kickstarter when the invitations to join the Pledge Manager are sent.

Stay tuned everyone, I am going to work as hard as I can to make this Tome something truly special.

With only a FEW HOURS TO GO the Kickstarter has somehow smashed through yet another STRETCH GOAL!!! Reaching €50K means you've all unlocked plenty of new illustrations and extra bonus lore for the Purplebloods, the monsters of Tumiun! Dragons are only one of the five branches of Horrors, there's also the Giants, the Deepspawn, the Witches and the Beasts.

I can't believe it! With only two days to go the Kickstarter has smashed through yet another stretch goal!

This means I will be able to spend even more of my time refining and perfecting the chapter all about Sestiun, Tumiun's largest and most diverse continent, and the homeland of humans. I will be making extra artworks to go into the Tome, depicting some of the different Sage Cities and showing what life in the most artistically advanced realm in the Walled World actually looks like.

This stretch goal also allows me to take the time to produce a polished new episode of Tales of Tumiun featuring these artworks, in which the Cartographer will be creating a detailed new map of Sestiun. That video will follow later this year or early next year, keep an eye on the channel!

I won't be showing off the new designs of all six dragon lineages in this week's video just yet, I've only gotten around to drawing two of them. But the other four will follow in the coming months!
