There's a stat in our Bulgaria DNA video that's causing some confusion in the comments so let's clear it up. 🧬
The video states that only ~1.5% of Central Asian/Turkic haplogroups (from the Bulgar tribe, the horsemen who gave Bulgaria its name) survive in the modern Bulgarian male gene pool today.
That number is about Bulgar ancestry. It says nothing about Thracian ancestry, those are two completely different ancient populations, and the video never gives a Thracian-specific percentage.
