The Ends of a Dream 9/10 Absolute suicide bomb, this one. INCREDIBLY depressing yuri work about lost connection and two girls' inability to share their love for each other amid a post-war Japan climate. Loved it. Only real thing I could take away from it is the fact that the way that the story is told in reverse doesn't really provide much to the structure, because the only real thing left at the end of the tunnel is the mystery of what happened to their fingers.
Hundred Line - Slasher, Box of Calamity, Mystery, S.F. 8/10
I can't lie I loved these routes. I do think that the Uchikoshi routes that focus heavily on Takumi and Hiruko's relationship really suffer from how obsessed Kodaka writes Takumi to be towards Nozomi during route 0 and pre-branch routes, but there were undeniably times where I found myself a little misty at their relationship.
I love narratives driven by two characters that are the only ones who can really see each others' true selves and are bound by some invisible yoke. The comedic moments were just as good as Uchikoshi's best, the overall scenario had a lot of oddball shit that I think (or rather I hope) is setting up for DLC routes and/or future media, and I just enjoyed myself as a whole. I just wish that it didn't take me ONE HUNDRED HOURS OF WADING THROUGH EXTREMELY MIDDLING ROUTES BEFORE I GOT THE STORY LOCK DONE!
The fact that there's only story locks on TWO routes is so fucking annoying because it's the routes that I CARE BY FAR THE MOST ABOUT. If they were more frequent I'd be ok with it but it really peeved me off. I hope they either don't use story locks in the future or use them liberally, because this very inconsistent setup really irks me.
