I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention an issue that I faced while serving as a Polling Officer 3 in the recent Legislative Assembly election in J&K, which took place on the 1st of October, 2024.

During the election, my duty was to apply ink to the voters' fingers to prevent duplication. I diligently carried out my responsibilities, ensuring that the ink was applied correctly. However, I am now experiencing skin peeling on my fingers and thumb, which has persisted for five days.

It is concerning that during the training sessions, we were not informed about the potential risks of the ink on our skin, nor were we provided with gloves in the kit provided to us. As a result, the skin on two of my fingers and my thumb is now peeling off.

I kindly request that the concerned authorities look into this matter and take appropriate action to ensure that good-quality gloves are provided to polling officers in the future. Additionally, I suggest that instead of ink, a marker should be used to avoid any potential harm to the skin.
