Hello! Stephen and I have settled into our new school building, and we're back cooking up some content for you. We're continuing our colour mixing series, which started with turquoise/teal. We've now uploaded orange/brown, and warm grey. Time to get painting! ππ Jess

Hi everyone, we have a massive update for you all. Itβs been a while between uploading, which is my fault. Lots of reasons why, but it is ultimately my responsibility to keep things pumping along so I apologise for not keeping up. I will upload a very different video tomorrow, and Iβll explain more then, but the big news is WEβRE MOVING. We knew we had to eventually, but the current rental market is grim. We thankfully found a place, but my Plan B was basically having to close this school. Itβs exceptionally horrific out there, and especially at this time of year we truly hope everyone is doing okay.
Tune in tomorrow for all of our news and updates. Weβll take you on this new art school journey with us, and look forward to a new year of opportunities π Jess

Hi students! First of all, I apologise for the lack of tutorials these last couple of months. Once again, running a school, teaching, and trying to make content just don't seem to mix! But that's just life, and we all need to roll with the punches. BUT, good news: it's school holidays soon! π (And all teachers yelled HOORAY!) For us, that means we have space and time to film and edit for you. So what would you love to see?? Tell us below and we can get it done π Jess

Hi students! π It's been a long time between art tutorials. Our school has been extremely busy, booking art courses and Term 3 after-school classes for children & teens. It's been stressful, but now that's all done we can move on to creating more videos for you. We'll have one up today (hopefully, might be tomorrow) testing a brand of acrylic paint you may want to try for yourself. And we'll have more content coming over the new few weeks too. We hope you're all doing great and painting some lovely pieces! Maybe even doing some sketching? π Jess

Hi students! We'll take a few weeks off as it's the end of term, and I'm going overseas. I was thinking of making a JAPANESE ART SUPPLIES vlog while away. Would you like to see that? If you have a different Japan + art suggestion, leave a comment ππ Jess

GOOD NEWS! π Stephen is back teaching, and we just filmed a bit of a one-take video of him testing out some boards for oil painting. We were both pretty surprised by the results! So you'll get to see all that unfold this Thursday π

Drawing can be tough. You have an idea in your brain, but when you go to draw it, something just seems... off. Or even completely wrong! One method you can use to help is to draw still-life objects. Grab some mugs, bowls, and odd things from your kitchen, and just start sketching them. There's no pressure: unless you time yourself! π I've started a series of 2-minute sketching exercises for beginners, but to be honest, these are great warm-ups for established artists too. The goal is to train your eyes to REALLY see. Practicing observation is key! π Jess

Hi Students! I wanted to give you a belated update. The New Year here didn't go to plan. Dad had a mild stroke just before Christmas, so I've been looking after him since then. Thankfully, he is doing extremely well, mainly battling with fatigue and some minor coordination issues. We were planning on filming a bunch of videos together over the Aussie Christmas break, and he was hoping to get back into painting! But none of that happened. But... I have filmed some new drawing videos for you. They will be quick, easy exercises you can do at home. Drawing is a key fundamental art skill we can all learn so much from, so fingers crossed you can work through these drawing exercises with me π Once dad is feeling better, he would love to do more painting videos. So maybe in a few months' time, I'll get him back on camera for you.
We hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year's break, and I'll see you super soon with a new drawing video! π Jess
