What if 30 minutes could change your health… AND earn you rewards? 🤯

The NHS is planning to reward people for walking 30 minutes a day.

At Balanced Plate Hub, we believe health isn’t about perfection—it’s about building habits you can actually stick with.

🥗 Eat a balanced plate.
🚶 Move your body.
😴 Rest well.
🔁 Repeat.

That’s the recipe for lasting health.

Would this motivate you to get your daily walk in? 👇

What would a balanced plate look like for you right now? 🍽️

Not your perfect plate.
Not your “healthy eating starts on Monday” plate.

The plate you’d realistically make today.

For me, a balanced plate is usually built around simple foods I already have at home:
🥕 vegetables
🥔 a source of carbs
🥚 beans, fish, eggs, or another protein
🥜 a little healthy fat

No perfection. Just balance, one meal at a time.

What’s on your balanced plate today?

It was Mental Health Awareness Week in the office… and it made me think about what actually helps people day to day.

On Friday there was a lunch together and a board where people shared things that help them cope and feel better.

And it reminded me how often wellbeing lives in really small, ordinary things:
- a balanced meal
- lunch together and stepping outside for fresh air
- not comparing ourselves to others
- a simple breathing exercise

Not just awareness for one week…
but the small things we come back to regularly.

Sometimes balance looks very simple.

I overheard something in a café yesterday:

“Today I want to eat healthy.”

It made me think about how often we treat food like something we start and stop.

I was actually sitting there myself, looking at the menu, trying to put together something balanced at the same time.

Curious—
Do you ever think in “healthy days”?
Or has that changed for you?

I found this in the Rijksmuseum — and it stopped me.

Not because it’s famous.Because it’s honest.

Simple food.Quiet moment.Full attention.

No “perfect plate.”No diet rules.Still… balanced.

We travel, explore, chase new experiences —but rush the one thing we do every single day: eat.

A balanced plate isn’t just what’s on it.It’s whether you’re even present for it.

I walked through rooms full of masterpieces…and this one felt the most real.

Question:Are you feeding your body — or just filling it?

I’ve been thinking about the Black Coffee Theory ☕

We often complicate things that are actually simple.

Just like coffee doesn’t need all the extras…
our nutrition doesn’t need endless rules, fear, or restriction.

At its core, your body needs balance:
🥩 protein
🍞 carbs
🥑 fats

That’s your ‘black coffee’.

Balanced Plate Hub for me is about coming back to basics —
what actually nourishes, supports, and feels sustainable.

Simple doesn’t mean boring.
Simple means clear.

“Strip it back.
Your body already knows what it needs ☕🍽️

For nearly 2 years, I’ve kept a simple habit — walking during my lunch breaks. Nothing fancy, just fresh air, a reset, and a moment to reconnect.

Yesterday, on my walk, I picked up a Wagon Wheels for my trip next week to see my sister — and it genuinely brought me joy.

A little reminder from me (and Balanced Plate Hub): balance isn’t just about what’s on your plate. It’s also in these small, everyday moments that nourish you in other ways 💛

What’s one small thing that brought you joy this week?

A small practice: observation 👀

Before eating, pause for a moment and simply look at the plate.
Notice the portions, colours, and balance — without judging or changing anything.

Awareness is often the first step toward better choices.

What do you notice on your plate today?

This made me stop and think today…

I noticed this slogan on a food package:
“You are what you eat. So eat proper.”

Such a simple sentence — but it made me reflect.

Not about dieting or perfection, but about how everyday food quietly supports how we feel, our energy, and our wellbeing.

Maybe “eating proper” isn’t about strict rules at all…
maybe it just means choosing real, nourishing foods most of the time.

💬 What does eating proper mean to you?
