Did you know that dietary fiber is more than just a digestive aid?

Found in plant cell walls, fiber types like cellulose, hemicellulose, pectic polysaccharides, resistant starch, and lignin play a crucial role in preventive health.

📌 Why it matters:

Not digested in the small intestine, fiber reaches the large intestine where it's fermented by gut microbes.

This process produces short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) like butyrate, which are: ✅ Anti-inflammatory
✅ Antitumor
✅ Great for overall gut health


📉 Unfortunately, modern diets are low in fiber, contributing to rising cases of: 🔹 Diabetes
🔹 Obesity
🔹 Other chronic health issues

🕵‍♀️Let's learn about different types of vials that are typically used to store laboratory samples or sensitive biological material and reagents.

1]. THE PURPLE ONE (oka "lumenela") :-
-These bottles are generally used for hematology tests where whole blood required for analysis.
- This tube contains EDTA(Ethylenediamine tetra acetic acid) which act as potent anticoagulant by binding to calcium.

2]. THE GREY ONE:-
-It is only used for two tests.( glucose and lactate test)
- It is used for biochemistry tests.
- This contains two main agents , sodium fluoride acts as Antiglycolytic agent to ensure that no further breakdown occur within the sample after it is taken.
Potassium act as anticoagulant.

3].THE BLUE ONE:-
-It is used for Coagulation test.
- This tube contains sodium citrate which act as reversible anti -coagulant by binding to calcium ions in the blood & disrupting clotting cascade.

4]. THE RED ONE:-
-These bottles are generally used for immunology, serological, blood bank (croos match) test.
- There is no additive, no anticoagulant.
- Mode of action:- Blood clots and serum separately antifugation.

📋let's learn how we do qualitative test for fats.

🫗Triglycerides are esters of Glycerol and long-chain fatty acids(SCFA) .

•At room temperature, liquid triglycerides are called oils (usually of plant origin).
while solid ones are fats (typically of animal origin).

•Simple triglycerides have three Identical acyl group, where as mixed triglycerides have different acyl group.

•Polyunsaturated fats or oils contain fatty acids with two or more double bonds.

•Oils are glycerides of unsaturated fatty acids.

•Both fats and oils are insoluble in water.

PROCEDURE:-
•Add a few crystals (0.5 g) of dry potassium hydrogen sulphate to 3 ml of mustard oil /ghee taken in test tube and heat gently.
•A Pungent smell confirms the presence of an oil or a fat.

📌 HOW PROTEIN DIGESTED ?

In simple words -
The peptidase(enzyme ) present in the intestinal juice brings about the final breakdown of protein and polypeptides to amino acids.

The dipeptidase and tripeptidase break up dipeptides and tripeptides
respectively to amino acids.

The amino peptidase act on the linkage of terminal amino acids processing free amino group.

📌 Recipe:- carrot millet pudding (foxtail)

📌 Size of the serving:- 1 bowl

📌Amount:- 50 gm

📌Ingredients:-

carrot,
foxtail millet,
little cardamom,
bayleaf
ghee .

📌Method:-

soaked the millet for 6 hours,
after that lit the flame and in pan add soaked millet and water in which the millet is soaked cooked for 20 to 30 minutes in medium flame ,
take another pan ,
add 1 tblspn ghee 1 bayleave and 1 little cardamom and add grated carrot into the pan saute for 5 minutes and then add the millet into the pan and cover it on medium flame for 10 to 15 minutes after that switch off the flame and serve it into the bowl.

Barnyard millet, also known as "Sanwa" is a nutritious grain that offers numerous health benefits. Here are some of the key health benefits.

➡️Recipe- Millet Cutlet (Barnyard)
➡️Amount- 5 pieces
➡️Ingredients-
•Barnyard- 1/2 cup
•Cooked chickpea- 1 cup
•Ginger garlic paste -1tsp
•Carrot (Chopped) - 1/4 cup
•Capsicum (Chopped) -1/4 cup
•Onion (Chopped) - 1/2 cup
•Green chillies -2-3
•Lemon juice- 1tbsp
•Red chilli powder- 1tsp
•Coriander leaves -1 tsp
•Garam masala- 1/2 tsp
•Oil -3_4 tbsp
•Salt to taste

➡️PROCEDURE-
1-Wash and soaked the Millet in water for 30 min.
2-Finely chopped the vegetables and boil it.
3-Drain the Millet and pressure cook in 1 cup of water until the Millet are cooked
4-Cooked it for 1 whistle. Allow it to cook.
5- In a large bowl combine the boiled vegetable, Millet and mashed slightly.
6-Add the coriander leaves, green chilli, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, garam masala and salt then mix it well.
7- Shape into cutlet and keep aside.
8- Heat 3-4 tbsp of oil in frying pan and place the cutlet.
9- Once the first side is golden brown flip and cooks until other side is brown.
10- Serve with Chutney and Ketchup.
