it’s been about 2 years since @KamrenKennedy and i have been on vacation so we made sure to be intentional about soaking up every second spent in Maui.
thank you @RenateEventDesign for inviting us to your beautiful second home for the Maui Songwriters Festival and thank you Ritz Carlton Kapaluaa for being the best hosts.
i’ll carry this peace with me everywhere i go. until next time Maui🌺🤙🏽
my mind has a tendency to be really loud wether that’s positive or negative. some days i’m really feeling myself, feeling great, feeling confidant. and then other days my mind is just circling with negative thoughts about myself - just not feeling good enough and not being kind to myself.
i was thinking back to this day walking the streets of New York and i was having one of those negative days - deep in my own thoughts. and all of a sudden this beautiful sister in that photo stopped me and said “i love your music. never give up.” and just like that all of those negative thoughts about myself disappeared.
it reminded me how powerful kindness is. i’m so grateful for this community we’ve built on this side of the internet. you uplift me everyday and i pray you feel the same through my music.
i pray this is your reminder to say the kind thing. be kind to the stranger on the street. you never know what somebody’s going through. your words can change someone’s entire day. i think sometimes we get stuck in our own world but we were built for community. so be kind to your neighbor and be kind to yourself.
11 years ago today we went on our first date and I’ve been falling for you ever since. not our wedding anniversary - just the day everything changed 😌 love you @KamrenKennedy
it’s an honor to have my friend and brother @joelbarnes5649 on making room out this friday.
we first connected through my good sis @laurenscottmusic. i had posted a cover of one of joe’s songs that carried me through a really tough season and she messaged me like “you know that’s my boyfriend, right?” (now husband. shoutout to the newlyweds.) a few months later, the three of us got together with Cameron Bedell and this song came to life.
“i’ve been feeling anxious as of lately. like i’m out of rhythm, just not in sync.”
the first line of the song, and it speaks to where i’ve been. maybe you’ve been there too. making room **is my reminder that when i make room for God, He meets me with peace that quiets the noise.
mid-covid i got a call that changed my life. an offer to host my own radio show. i had no clue what i was getting into, but with the world shut down and no live shows in sight, it felt like the perfect way to connect.
what started as something totally new became one of the biggest blessings of my life. the tiera show grew me in ways i never saw coming. my producers turned into family, our early morning recordings became my daily cup of tea, and somehow, in the middle of it all, i found a more confident, truer version of myself.
y’all welcomed me into your mornings, your cars, your kitchen and some of the messages you sent will stay with me forever. like the mama of three who told me the show helps keep her holy spirit alive. or the man who came to one of my shows and told me the show got him through covid. if i’ve done nothing else with this, that fills my cup.
i’ve always believed my purpose is to spread love and joy, and knowing this show did that is something i’ll carry with me forever.
while this chapter is closing, i don’t think the story’s over just yet. this show reminded me of the power in showing up, in honest conversation, in meeting people where they are, and in using our words to heal and connect. i’m looking forward to whatever the next season brings, and to continuing to spread love wherever the Lord places me.
