Arturo Gatti Jr., the son of late boxer Arturo Gatti Sr. is dead at age 17
Gatti's former bodyguard Chuck Zito confirmed the news on Instagram on Oct. 8, and said that the young boxer had died by suicide
Zito noted that the teen was found "the same way they found" Gatti Sr. in July 2009

This was my saddest day in boxing. 45 Years ago On This Day
On October 2, 1980, Larry Holmes defeated Muhammad Ali via a corner retirement (RTD) after 10 rounds to retain the WBC heavyweight title and win the vacant The Ring heavyweight title. The fight was held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and billed as "The Last Hurrah" for Ali, who had come out of retirement for the bout.
I remember this one like it was yesterday. It was held on a Thursday night and the closed circuit was at the Providence Civic Center. There was a party atmosphere everywhere. Dinner and drinks before the fight. I was expecting big things from Muhammad Ali. I was still a fanboy and I thought Ali was ageless. Larry Holmes batted Ali around the ring that night until Angelo Dundee mercifully stopped the fight. When I was leaving the arena you could hear a pin drop. People were that stunned to see the great Ali unable to come back. 45 years later the memory is still alive.

This was the 3rd fight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. They were 1 and 1. People said Frazier was shot. Frazier's strategy was "if you kill the body, the head will die" Ali tried everything in his repertoire to keep Smoking Joe at bay but tonight Joe wasn't going to be denied. Ali taunted Frazier before the bell rang. "You don't have it, Joe, you don't have it! I'm going to put you away!" In response, Frazier smiled and said "We'll see." and see we did. Ali showed why he's the greatest and Joe showed heart for the ages. If you haven't watch this fight, do yourself a favor and honor 2 of the greatest heavyweights in history by watching this amazing battle. Than you can complain about today's heavyweight boxing.
