The Bremer Barockorchester (BBO), founded in 2015, is one of Northern Germany’s leading ensembles for historically informed performance. Known for expressive interpretations and stylistic versatility, the orchestra connects Baroque and Classical music with the present.
Led by Colombian cellist Néstor F. Cortés Garzón, the ensemble combines historical research with improvisation, rhetoric, and storytelling. BBO reaches a wide audience through its strong digital presence, with over 80,000 subscribers and more than 14 million views across its digital platforms. In its hometown Bremen, its very own concert series Baroque&Beyond blends famous works with rarely performed repertoire and innovative formats, alongside educational projects.
Recent highlights include the orchestra’s first multi-week concert tour of China and its debut at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. The ensemble’s third recording "And every little Star" was nominated for the longlist of the German Record Critics’ Award.

🎶 BY REQUEST! – NOW IT’S YOUR TURN 🎶
Suggest the music we’ll perform!
For about 10 years, you’ve been watching, sharing, and supporting our Bremen concerts. Thank you for being part of this journey 💛
Now we want to give something back.
For the first time ever, you can help shape our concert program.
Our upcoming concert is called “By Request!” — and that’s exactly what it is.
How it works:
📝 Phase 1: Feb 1 – Mar 1
Suggest your favorite pieces in the comments under any of our newest videos or shorts, preferably under this post.
🗳 Phase 2: Mar 10 – Mar 21
Vote from a list of pre-selected works what will be performed and recorded live in concert on May 30 in Bremen – and published on our YouTube channel afterwards.
The final program will be announced by the end of March.
Conditions for your suggestions:
- Music from approx. 1600–1800, suitable for period instruments
- Instrumental works only or clearly defined individual movements
- Ideal length: 3–10 minutes
- No extreme instrumentations e.g. 10 trombones & baroque jaw harp 😉
- One work per comment (unlimited comments allowed!)
- Feel free to tell us why you love the piece or why you want to hear BBO play it
We can’t wait to read your ideas and please share this post with all baroque music fans out there! Thank you! 🙌
