Hey everyone, I’ve got some sad news to share with you today.
A friend of mine, @ThePonderingPeasant - maybe known to you as the Duke of Dorks, passed away last week. He was editor of the Know Your Moves series when I returned to talk about the Smash Ultimate newcomers, but he also had a channel dedicated to his own exploration and love of games big, small and everything in between. I thought it would be important to share because of his contributions to the KYM series, but also to share his own work and who he was. Duke and I checked in every now and then after I stopped the Know Your Moves series. We did a standard ‘hey yo what's new buddy’ a few times a year, but during those years of Know Your Moves we worked together and chatted a lot. Working with him on those videos was some of the most fun I had during my years of YouTube. In retrospect I wish I kept doing it just so we could have more of those moments lol. He always was excited to make videos come to life, or throw in his own ideas in, or share his own observations about a character. Because he really loved games. He’d go onto rants about specific, small, costume details he remembered and we’d bounce ideas back and forth. But outside KYM, that's just who he was. He loved games for all their silly details and niche aspects. And beyond that, he was incredibly kind as a person. Thank you for your kindness Duke, as a collaborator and a friend. In this space, it's difficult to find genuine people who care about making videos and care about others - but he was one of them. So please I hope you can go watch his videos, he loved what he spoke about. And please, just remember to cherish those in your life and ask them if they ever need to talk. This world and life are so fragile, and our connections to others are the only real things we have. Rest in Peace buddy, I’m sorry I didn’t reach out more these last few years. But I’ll have a lot to talk to you about later.

Now, onto some updates! This month’s monthly donation incentive will be going towards UNRWA. This charity is focused on helping Palestinians during the ongoing genocide. The donations used will help them receive food and aid in areas affected. Do note that all donations will be made from my own earnings on videos only! No membership support will be used for these monthly donation incentives! Oh, and all receipts will be posted to Twitter. I ain’t messing with Bluesky much these days. What do I look like a LOSER?!
Also - I didn’t do the donation incentive for September because the channel really didn’t make more than 1000 dollars, so I just carried that over to what I’ll contribute to this month. Sorry for the confusion.
As for the videos, I’ll be attempting to make one video for the Holiday Season that I’m sure you all will enjoy. As much as I love how the Ganondorf video came out, the algorithm did not push it very much, which is unfortunate. But reading all your comments really warmed my heart. I am very lucky to have such an awesome audience that even after 10 years tunes in for this kind of stuff. I would like to do my best to not take advantage of that and continue doing videos as best I can. It can be difficult though, and I worry maybe the platform doesn’t encourage videos like this anymore. But, if I have to adapt I’ll save it for 2026.
As summer comes to a close it’s time for some easy breezy announcements.
This month, our monthly donation incentive will be going towards the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto. Food insecurity becomes a growing problem in times of job loss and inflation, in fact this year saw 1 million more visits to a food bank than the year prior for the city of Toronto. I believe that we can have an effect in helping others when we support our local communities, so here and there the incentive will go towards my city. As usual, you can find these receipts on my Twitter and Bluesky.
Speaking of which, videos have been sparse for the months of July and August but not because of sitting on my butt.... not entirely. I had a few busy weeks but for this next video in particular, it is going to be … kind of huge. I don’t want to spoil anything but I think it will be one fans new and old will love. Lets call it a 500k special. I’m gonna put my best into it, so please wait just a little longer!

MSF provides critical medical care in a large-scale emergencies across the world. Receipts are on my Bluesky and my Twitter - which I have now! Man don’t you love when people tell you so much information al at once! Well good news, I stream on YouTube now alongside Twitch, you can find me on my side channel @AlsoAlax - I’m trying to grow my audience so come watch if you have a chance. I only stream 2 hours but I do my best to make them pretty action packed and exciting. Sometimes there are even cats. Not much else to talk about.
