"Private Dancer" 40th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition!
Four physical formats are on offer with a 5CD+blu-ray deluxe edition. That edition uses the same 2015 remaster as last time, but addresses most of the issues SDE had with the previous version, by including all the single edits, all the 12-inch versions and offering a disc of previously unreleased and rare versions,
including a previously unheard track called ‘Hot For You Baby’.

The 6-disc deluxe also includes the audio from the Private Dancer Tour show filmed at the NEC (including performances with David Bowie and Bryan Adams) along with restored HD video on the blu-ray.
Another (mostly) unreleased live show from Chicago recorded in August 1984, features on CD 4
The blu-ray includes eight promo videos, many restored from original film prints.
The unreleased track ‘Hot For You Baby’ is forgettable, which is not entirely surprising. It clearly wasn’t rated as good enough to be a B-side back in the day and was apparently not considered for inclusion on either of the two previous expanded CD editions of Private Dancer
.
Other formats for 2025 are a 2CD set, with the second disc offering a similar – but not identical – disc to CD 2 in the box. It includes the same B-sides, single edits and 12-inch versions from CD 2 in the deluxe but adds the ‘new’ song ‘Hot For You Baby’ and also includes two live B-sides from the ‘I Can’t Stand The Rain’ single (‘Let’s Pretend We’re Married’ and ‘Nutbush City Limits’). At first glance, these appear to be missing from the big box, but they are from the Chicago gig on CD 4 (meaning it’s not entirely unreleased, as stated).
There’s also a vinyl picture disc and a ‘pearl’ coloured vinyl LP, which comes with a 12-inch art card of the US album artwork.
Private Dancer will be reissued on 21 March 2025, via Rhino.
