Quality Organ Videos & An Awesome Community

I'm Richard McVeigh and I'm absolutely passionate about finding that perfect immersive organ sound. It is my aim to place you right in the middle of the action so you can close your eyes and imagine being in the presence of the organ that I am playing.

Before starting BEAUTY IN SOUND, I worked as full-time organist at the Cathedrals of Sheffield, Chester, York and Winchester giving concerts around the UK as well as in France, Germany and Italy. I am now one of the organists at Arundel Cathedral as well as a freelance musician.

Make sure to subscribe to BEAUTY IN SOUND to become part of this wonderful and friendly community made up of people with similar interests.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to write something just for you, my channel members and Patreon supporters, because this past month simply would not have happened without you.

The big one first. The BIS Music Room is finished. After all the months of planning, building and crowdfunding, we inaugurated it in July with the 2026 Summer BIS Organ Festival, five evenings of music all performed on the BIS St Mary Redcliffe sample set. And here is the number that still makes me pinch myself: together we raised over £51,000, sailing past the £50,000 goal. Every panel, every cable and every inch of that room exists because of your generosity. When I sit down to record in there, I am quite literally sitting inside something you built.

And here is the moment that summed up why I wanted to build this room in the first place. On the Thursday of the festival we held Rising Stars, a recital given by seven of the country's finest young organists, sharing one console for one evening. Watching them experience the room, the instrument and a worldwide audience of thousands. That was the whole point. This room exists so that people, especially young musicians, can experience something amazing. You made that possible.

And you have only gone and done it again. The camera campaign also passed its target as well, £6,372 raised against a goal of £6,278. Livestreams from the Music Room are about to look as good as they sound, and that is entirely down to you.

Your monthly support does the same thing on a smaller scale every single day. The equipment I buy through Beauty In Sound, the recording trips, the time to produce videos properly rather than in a rush, all of it is a direct result of you sticking with me. I never take that for granted.

So what is coming up? Quite a lot, as it happens. Work continues on version 2 of the Tewkesbury Abbey sample set, which is now in beta testing. Another major update to St Mary Redcliffe. There are recording projects in motion with some wonderful English cathedrals that I hope to announce properly soon. And there is one rather exciting transatlantic conversation happening that I cannot say much about yet, except that if it comes off, it will be the biggest thing BIS has ever done. Watch this space.

Thank you for being here. Not just for the financial support, though heaven knows it helps, but for the comments, the encouragement and the sense that this strange and wonderful corner of the internet is a community rather than an audience.

More music very soon.

Some really wonderful sounds coming from Saturday’s very special recitalist at BIS… Andy Lumsden!

I think Nala is under the impression she is giving the inaugural concert 😼

The Music Room is looking (and sounding) incredible. I hope it comes over on YouTube! ❤️

This Sunday falls on a remarkable weekend...

...with Britain marking the King's official birthday at Trooping the Colour and America celebrating Flag Day 🇬🇧 🇺🇸

To mark the occasion, this compilation takes you on a musical journey from Westminster to Washington through thirteen of the greatest hymns ever written, from the coronation grandeur of All People That on Earth Do Dwell to the American thunder of The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Along the way we uncover the surprising threads that bind these two nations together: royal weddings and state funerals, a hymn written aboard a battleship, an English melody hiding inside America's national anthem, and a tune called Coronation written by the very republic that rejected a crown.

Hope to see you tonight!

Hi all 👋

I'd very much like to do a 'live' broadcast on Sunday evening.

Please send me a request for one hymn, with a paragraph as to why you'd like to hear it. It doesn't need to be any style, mood or season, but is something that perhaps reflects how you're currently thinking or linked to what is going on in your lives.

If there's a particular performance of this hymn that you like, please let me know otherwise I'll dig through the archives and find the best one (obviously it has to be something that I've previously played because I don't have access to an organ at the minute!).

Please email me at richard@beautyinsound.co.uk

Thank you so much! 🙏

🎬 BIG Music Room update!

I'm genuinely still in awe 🥹

Thanks to your extraordinary generosity, the crowdfunder smashed its £50,000 goal and landed at £51,210. I cannot tell you how humbled and overwhelmed I feel by the support this community has shown for the Music Room. 🙏

Quite a number of you have kindly asked if there's anything specific you could chip in towards.

Well, here you go: the next thing I need to purchase are the new cameras. £6,278 for six OBSBOT Tail 2 AI PTZ cameras that will transform what you see on every livestream and recording from the new Music Room.

Donations start at just £1, and absolutely no pressure at all if you've already given. You've already done more for this project than I could have ever imagined. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Tomorrow night is a big one...

After six years, Sunday's Virtual Church will be the very last broadcast from the dining room. The organ is about to begin its journey to the new BIS Music Room.

So let's send it off in style.

During the broadcast, send me your favourite celebratory hymns and biggest organ pieces and I'll play them live!

I'd also love a short voice recording of your favourite moment from the last six years of Virtual Church. I'll share some during the broadcast (send to virtualchurch@beautyinsound.co.uk)

And we're SO close on the crowdfunder... £45,980 raised of our £50,000 target. Just £4,020 to go. Let's see if we can close this chapter by hitting the final target: www.beautyinsound.co.uk/products/bis-music-room

See you tomorrow night. It'll be emotional.
