I'm Richard McVeigh and I'm absolutely passionate about finding that perfect immersive organ sound. It is my aim to place you right in the middle of the action so you can close your eyes and imagine being in the presence of the organ that I am playing.
Before starting BEAUTY IN SOUND, I worked as full-time organist at the Cathedrals of Sheffield, Chester, York and Winchester giving concerts around the UK as well as in France, Germany and Italy. I am now one of the organists at Arundel Cathedral as well as a freelance musician.

Christmas isn’t joyful for everyone.
If this Christmas feels a bit quieter than you’d hoped, I just want you to know that you don’t have to be on your own.
I’ll be hosting a relaxed video call on Christmas Day for anyone in our community who might appreciate a friendly face and some company. No pressure to talk, no expectations at all - you’re very welcome to just listen, drop in briefly, or stay as long as you like.

The Harrison & Harrison organ of @Ely-Cathedral was not easy organ to record, but I think Jeremy Lloyd and I have created something very special.
The Vierne is perfect for the season of Advent. It starts in the shadows: watching, waiting and expectant (Prelude & Fugue) before jogging (Pastorale) and running (Allegro vivace) to Bethlehem to sing a quiet lush and stringy lullaby (Andante) before celebrating the birth of Jesus with a rousing fanfare (Final).

End of week 2️⃣ Music Room update!
This week, the footings were dug and filled with (a lot of) concrete. It took an entire day, and the cement mixer was unlike anything I’ve ever seen! I was expecting the normal kind with the spinny tub thing... but this beast was massive (and very noisy – I can still hear the stones scraping on metal! 🤪).
We also had a heart-stopping moment with the main house electrical cable. We knew it was under there somewhere, but the digger found it first! 🙈 Luckily, it only suffered minor damage. Cue the builder asking, “Is your power still on?” 🤣
They ended the week by digging one of two new soakaways. As you can see, it’s very muddy—so if you’re due to come to BIS to record over the coming weeks, bring your wellies!
