YouTube continues to send me ads on my phone for Halloween clothing. But when I check reviews for these sites and their products, the majority of people say its a scam, the pictures are all AI-generated, and the clothing looks nothing like this in real life.

I've said this before, but I don't mind saying so again: I use AI to edit my scripts, organize my thoughts, and sharpen things. As I've gotten older and my attention is split between my job and writing as a hobby, it has been more difficult for me to maintain my focus. AI has helped me immensely in this regard.

For instance, this entire post was written using Microsoft Copilot. I even told the program to make me sound a bit like Starscream, and guess what? It generated some of that too. Of course, I also edited it afterwards, but you'd never know what was written by me and what the AI generated unless you were familiar with these programs.

If you're creating content in your free time and you're looking for more efficient ways of creation, you'd wield what tools are made available instead of whining about them. Do you use search engines, wikis, calculators, and spellcheck? These are basic utilities and AI is just the next evolution. The difference between a good AI script and a garbage one is based the user. If your input is trash, the output will be too. That is not the AI’s fault, it is yours.

Anyway, Devon Stack said something that got my gears whirling. The fact is, most legislators don’t understand technology, and neither do a lot of third-worlders. His take was that immigrants and minorities are easy to control and influence. They don’t know how the machine works and so they get steamrolled by it. That is why your government loves importing ignorance; it is easier to manage than resistance.

This is why I’m not going to stop using AI just because some luddites think it’s cheating or "soulless". If you’re on social media regularly, you’re already neck-deep in LLMs and soulless slop anyway. The reason for this is the Internet is tailored to people without their critical thinking faculties intact. Every word you read is filtered, ranked, and served up by machine learning. You are not outside the system, you are marinated in it.

And, to be honest, most of the people who criticize my use of AI don’t like me anyway and they’re just looking for another excuse to seethe at me. Meanwhile, they’re probably subscribed to ten other creators who do the exact same thing. Hypocrisy is their native tongue.

This isn’t me abandoning critical thinking. I still vet what I say and I still care about the integrity of my work. But let’s be real, these platforms don’t reward that. Instead, they reward volume, velocity, and whatever keeps people scrolling. My incentive to spend time here is simple: if it doesn’t pay, it’s not worth the hours.
