Batflies are "Yan" Flies, and Batfruit are "Yan" Fruit
Void Worms are outside the cycles
The dust falling is one of the thigs mentioned in base game/ downpour pearls I think, where the void eats away at the rocks from below and dust replaces it
Perhaps a key message of this game is that there is no escape, not for the little slugcats (come back later for more pointless exposition), nor for saint (the one stuck in a looping cycle, with weird echo motifs), nor for the watcher, whom I believe is symbolically linked to Saint's ending in a way.
