ORDER OF HIERARCHY IN THE REIKAI VERSE [CANON VER.] (highest to lowest ranks):

The Creator. (Goes by the name Rin.) —
Can control all realities and universes.

Lord Kai — The only person that has communication with Rin (if lucky). Owns the palace that guests can stay in with food, water and shelter. Plus a few gifted items and luxuries.

Staff Leaders — Head of the other staff and has more communication with Lord Kai than the lower ranks due to being friends with him before the founding of the palace. (ex: Athena, Suki, Rein, etc.)

Kai’s Staff — Basic servants, knights, etc. Not really important in terms of storyline but they keep the palace running beneath the Leaders.

Guests — People that are invited by Kai or one of his friends to stay at the palace.
If one is desperate enough and willing to take the risks, they will sometimes pray to Kai or approach the palace entrance with a gift to be invited in. Most of the time they do but for those who don’t get accepted, they are banished from Mideon forever.

After Kai’s little break, he unfortunately returns to the piles on piles of paperwork sitting at his desk.
He slumps onto the chair and sighs, preparing himself before hearing the familiar knock of a special servant.
“Come in.”

Suki softly opens the door and places a cup of hot coffee on Kai’s desk.
“Good evening, sir. You seem quite busy so I decided to prepare this for you. Do you need any assistance with that?”
“No, thanks, it all requires me to do it… But, thank you for the coffee, this will really help. Feel free to sleep before 10pm if you want, don’t wait for me to dismiss you today.”
“Understood, sir. Would you like any other food or drinks?”
“No, thanks.”
“Of course. Goodnight, Kai.”
“‘Night, Suki.”

Rin wakes up. The sun is slowly but surely rising. He drags his feet to the bathroom mirror and takes a look in the reflection. Perhaps that fall was just a dream. Or did it happen yesterday? Who knows. Who cares.

Rin is taking down notes in its language class when it feels something. Something… shifting.

Suddenly, everything goes dark and it feels itself falling and falling with no end in sight. Just an endless, hopeless void of black.

All sorts of thoughts run through its head from shock to sadness to pure despair.

And then it blinks.
It’s back at its desk. Scribbling notes as the professor flicks through the slides.

Looks like nothing happened. Perhaps it was just in its imagination. Who knows.

Kai sits at his desk, sorting through palace paperwork while trying not to pass out from exhaustion.
He decides to give up for the day and takes a walk through the halls to check in on everyone.

Suki is serving tea to the guests in the main hall. Rein is out guarding the gates. And then… He realizes something.

Kai walks to the weapons room and finds Athena crafting a new weapon.

“What are you making there?”
“Oh, hey Kai. Just busy crafting a new spear for Rein. Her previous one broke.”
“Ah, is it going well?”
“Mhm. It’s pretty easy honestly just gotta coat this last part in red for her.”

There’s a soft silence for a brief moment before Kai considers asking her a question.
“Do you ever wish to go back to the old days…?”
“Huh?”
“Y’know, back before the palace was founded, when we were just a bunch of teens trying to find a way in life…”
“Hm… Sometimes. Not often, though. I am grateful for what I have now, and it’s 100% better than the stupid forest. It was so creepy there…”
“Oh, fair point. I have to go check on the rest of the staff, so hopefully your spear goes well. Feel free to stop by my office anytime. See you, Athena.”
“Bye, Kai.”

Athena sits in a field of grass inside a dark forest. The night sky mixed with the grey fog clouds her vision. Luckily her eyes have adapted over the past few years and she gained a somewhat decent level of night vision.

She hears rustling from a bush.
She turns around.

Out comes a strange figure. Although she cannot fully view the figure, they appear to have black, slightly messy hair, dark purple eyes and a tail that appears to be holding something.

The figure offers a hand out.
Athena, naturally hesitant, backs away.
