- Bands you can see in New York City on April 25, 1979:

According to Wikipedia¹, some of the bands that played in NYC on that date were Weather Report, The CBS Jazz All-Stars, the Trio of Doom, Fania All-Stars, Stephen Stills, Billy Swan, Bonnie Bramlett, Mike Finnegan, Kris Kristofferson, Rita Coolidge and Billy Joel at the Havana Jam festival; The Clash and Bo Diddley at the Berkeley Community Theatre; and Woody Allen's film "Manhattan" premiered at the Baronet Theater². You might also check out some of the local punk rock and new wave bands that were active at the time, such as Blondie, Talking Heads, Ramones, Television, Patti Smith Group, The Heartbreakers and Richard Hell and the Voidoids. - Son of Sam: David Berkowitz, also known as Son of Sam or .44 Caliber Killer, was arrested on August 10, 1977 and pleaded guilty to eight shooting attacks that killed six people and wounded seven others in NYC between 1976 and 1977.

He is still alive and serving six consecutive life sentences at Shawangunk Correctional Facility in Wallkill, New York.
