Game Dev Guidance

Hey everybody!

I wanted to share why content here on Game Dev Guidance has been a little slow lately. Back in February 2025, my brother-in-law and I discovered a game called Brotato. On the surface, it looked simple, but once we got into it, the depth completely hooked us. We poured hours into it, constantly thinking, “Man, it’d be awesome if we could change this… or add that…”

Eventually, we stopped wishing and started building. That’s how Wasteland Warriors was born! Our take on a Brotato-style game, shaped by our own vision and ideas.

It’s been a blast to work on… and also way more complex than I expected. We still have tons of cool features planned, but right now we’ve got a playable demo live on Steam and are even talking about Early Access!

Between this project, a full-time job, and raising my two sons, my time is stretched thin, but I’m hopeful. If Wasteland Warriors or Game Dev Guidance really takes off, I could finally trade in the 9-to-5 grind for full-time game dev. Which would be a dream come true.

That said, I’d love to share more videos on Wasteland Warriors. Not just gameplay, but the actual real-world code behind it. If there’s anything specific, like a game mechanic, UI, animation, or anything in between from the game you’d like me to cover, tell me in the comments!

If you want to support us, please check out Wasteland Warriors on Steam and hit that Wishlist if it looks fun. We’re building this game with the community, and your feedback matters, so join our Discord to share ideas and suggestions!
