Alright Lpvo lovers - we have the contract over run (read going out of business sale style marketing?) razor Gen ii 1-6 with the highly criticized and loved EBR-7f reticle.
Not going to lie, it was not an easy choice… debating on an Lpvo to go between my mk16 11.5” and my scar 17s, I went down a ballistic dope journey searching for the truth of BDC reticles. What did I learn? I’m not a huge fan of BDC reticles… but I was interested enough to give them one more chance.
The controversy of this reticle is the designation on the ballistics was provided for ammo that is hard to get (really hot 62gr loads) out of an uncommon 14.5” barrel with a 50/200 zero. That being said our subtensions are calculable and thus translatable to other designations. The second part of the controversy is the turrets - 0.5 click moa… while subtensions are done in mrad in the reticle. This is a military designation making it faster to set a zero in a familiar style (think Eotech here - half moa per click) and still use the reticle primarily as a 100-600m engagement. Note it’s in meters.
All things lined up 55gr vmax out of 11.5” keeps me true to about 400 yards using the subtensions and gives me minute of coyote out to 600 not that I’d push that for a hunt with this rig. When I compared to the scar 17s using my primary rounds - m80 ball essentially - the conversion is spot on to 500 (within 1 moa) so with some minor considerations a czone target will see impacts.
2 things to note -
1) the scope mount is 1.54” approx center line. This is traditional height for most Lpvo and works well with clip on thermal heights. 2) my scope mount included is garbage - I’m not sure if it’s just mine or common for all but the bolts are incredibly stiff and just don’t open enough to easily get the scope on and off a rail - I tried a few rails last night to confirm. You need a wrench to forcefully open the rings wide enough just to mount. You’ll need the same wrench to close them after as a result. The torque spec for the mount to your weapon system is 60 in lb for those curious.
Bonus note - I took my 200 yard zero with my Eotech and ensured my vis laser was bang on in the center. Removed my Eotech and put the scope out of the box onto my rail and checked alignment with the laser at center dot and it was SPOT on. Now, my unit I received looked to be an open box … it was dusty, had scratches from being mounted before, and the defender caps included were roughed up, so it appears this was a buyers remorse that had been potentially zeroed and returned? Or does vortex actually set these out of factory for the factory zero? I can’t confirm either.
Ask questions or question my life choices in the comments below. We have an updated scar 17s video coming to you guys soon with a new suppressor review with a new channel partner I’m super excited about!
This is what I’m waiting for. Super safe in mp5 is fine but feels very unauthentic. This is going to bring us an authentic pack experience in your existing lower. Let’s GO
This weekends video has been delayed due to a crazy wet weekend. We will be filming tomorrow for literally the best suppressor ever 🤣🤯🫣 and doing a brief look at thermal comparisons for rh-25 v2 vs Steiner c35 ii and DNT hydra 384 core.
Photo of this weekends build for tax. Yes it’s humid.
This thermal clip on is at an INSANE price right now….35mm objective clip on 640 core. It has mounting quirks but a company just released the rail mount for this thing (mine comes in tomorrow knock on wood). Link in the comments. Steiner C35 Gen II
