Welcome to the Froghair Farm, glad you're here. I am into old machinery, especially Massey Ferguson tractors along with Caterpillar and John Deere crawlers. The videos you'll find here will range from machine-specific, to projects, to looking after my native priairie stands among other interests.
It's called the Froghair Farm as it is about as much of a farm as a frog has hair.
I hope you enjoy.

One of my favorite things in spring. A pair of ducks usually nest on our creek bank and raise their young. The good news for the this year is there is no sign of snapping turtles hanging around.

Here's our jerry-rigged sap boiling system and the very delicious result. We've collected about 9 gallons of walnut sap and that boiled down to 22oz of syrup, a 52:1 ratio. The taps are still running so we'll do another batch or two very likely.

Found an Ferguson F-40 close to home, it has a few needs, and is the last of the line as far as Ferguson-branded tractors go. These were sold in 1956-57 at the same time Massey Harris 50 tractors were available. Both are the same with the exception of paint color and sheet metal. In 1958, the Massey Ferguson 50 replaced both, and again was essentially the same tractor with different paint and sheet metal. All three are the same as a Ferguson TO-35 from the front axle back. The 40's and 50's could be bought in a row-crop version with taller tires, and with wide front, tricycle, or single front wheel configurations. These tractors went on to be MF 135's and 150's. Massey definitely got a lot out of the original TO-35 design!!

The cover crop germinated pretty decently. Rye and Hairy Vetch up, haven't taken time to see if we have any winter peas, etc.

Happy Veterans Day! While I did not serve, many in my family have including my wife, a Sargent in the intelligence services of the U.S.Army. I am deeply grateful.

I'll have a short up on this soon - Tree puller on a Massey Ferguson 1M.40. Starting to remove some Osage Orange and Bush Honeysuckle. I don't have a lot of hedge trees, but a ton of BH and it's time to fight back. This is a good time of year to get the BH as its leaves stay on longer, although it is very easy to identify by shape and bark any time of year. I won't totally eradicate it, but the tree puller will decimate the 3/4"- 5 " bushes.

I picked this up today, a pretty unusual find at least around here. It's a MF #63 roll over plow, actually Massey - Harris - Ferguson by the tag.
